Hey guys just curious how long do you wait til next set ,I've heard mixed answers and does it even matter how much time you wait til your next set
 
Depends on if your lifting heavy or repping. When repping I tend to go for 45 secs to a 60 secs rest and when I’m going heavy 90 secs to 120 secs [emoji13]

Unless I'm doing DC like I am right now.

Same - It all depends.

If I'm lifting heavy with bench, squat, pulls, etc... Then maybe 2 - 3 minutes in between sets.

If I'm isolating with more control and less weight, usually no more than a minute.
 
I think the level of intensity dictates the amount of rest time you take, ya you need more rest time if your pushing yourself to a max effort 1 rep or 3 rep lift but, doing 70 percent of your max for 8 plus reps might require the same amount of rest time. If your going for circuit training, or just light weight high rep, 1 minute or 2 minutes is probably good.

45 seconds - 2 minutes if i am doing 8-20 rep range......

If i am lifting heavy I will take 3-6 minute rest between sets... (3-6 rep range)



i went from 115 to 130 dumbbell flat bench with 3-5 rep range and 6 minute rest between sets... it may seem silly but you are training for strength. and if you get stronger and have enough AAS in you and also train in higher rep range for other exercises you will gain mass... so dont be afraid to take long rests. one of the things i see most dont do.. but this worked for me... got it from layne norton(fake natural but he gave good advice for strength training that worked for me)
 
Depends on you goals.

Strength or Mass- Longer break between sets- 3-5mins

Both- 2-3mins

Lean- 1min or less probably super set
 
Myself just long enough to add plates or if a machine or dumbbells maby 15-20 seconds
 
Going by Poliquin when doing hypertrophy anywhere between 90 and 120 and when lifting heavy as long as needed

this was my rule of thumb in my early days , now i only do light weights high reps and usually just when my breathe gets to normal.
