I am going to go to my doc this week to get some blood drawn and see where i am. I am thinking about doing a cycle this winter so i would like to know where i am now an then i have a base to compare to when i get it done again, mid cycle. But what do i ask my doctor to test? KS

I would get a full physical if you have not had one in the past year. That way you get ALL your bases covered and you might as well since you are there. Plus if you have a decent insurance they will cover most of the costs. Within the full physical you'll also be able to get your blood work done while fasted so you'll have more precise numbers to go by. The regular physical will cover your normal blood work like HDL/LDL, red/white blood cell count, hemoglobin, blah blah you get the point. You should then also ask for a full hormone panel. Your primary care doctor may not know the full range of hormones to test and may also not decide to pull those blood samples for you and may refer you to an endocrinologist which I would suggest as they would have a far better understanding and could give you a more comprehensive set of tests.

I have the appointment scheduled for tomorrow morning. So i want to make sure i have my basis covered i need hdl, ldl, cholesterol, and full hormonal panel? That will tell me everything i need to know?

Any other help on this fellas. Got an apt at 8am tomorrow morning.

Like V said, get a full physical done and you will be straight. If your Doc is down to earth and trusting he'll understand and go the extra mile with ya. My personal Doc is awesome and knows all, I choose to paint the big picture so he knows what to test and reasons for my visits. Plus he fills me in on new stuff that could help when coming off and helpful to my age grp (41). And my insurance covers me fully as long as its my yearly. So good luck and hope you get the out come you are hoping for.

A CBC with lipids at the minimum. Liver panel too.

When you go to an anti-aging/HRT doctor they do the full test. No need to ask for anything. Thats why I don 't go to a General practitioner. My last doc had to be pushed into doing the full test. You want something done right go to a specialist!!!

Good Advice! Also- if you know where your levels should be after research and talking to a doctor-you dont have to go to the doctor for the lab work. You can use a discount lab testing service online. I use **broken link removed**- it cheap, confidential, they use LabCorp, and I get my results in usually 1-2 days- Then when I need to, I talk to my doctor about any abnormal results- but it saves me the time and cost of the initial doctor visit. Just thought I'd pass that along in case you want to keep monitoring your levels
