npc figure judging

well, after attending our state show and my girl not placing but still looking great i see now that there is more to figure than just a pretty face and body. i've read peter's post on figure girls and anabolics many times and i wish this is the way it was here but it's not. the girl who won overall surely deserved it and she was totally awesome. my gripe is with this... i thought judges are suppose to judge down girls who had the juice look! how many swollen, beefy, smoke ham looking girls and/or the hairless protruding foreheads with the shaven jaw will take the top spots? can you say too much gh and primo or even something harsh.

now my girl is all confused and feels like she needs to follow the crowd. i'm totally against that. figure is becoming super competitive and along with this will bring drugs that gives an edge.

i will say this. mary lado did my girls makeup in the room and she said not to worry because none of those girls i pointed out to her would do anything at nationals. this is what me and my girls is wondering....how the hell to get to national level shows if we don't have a shot against the local girls! lol

all in all...my girl has licked her wounds, talked to the judges and will actually train for size now (about time) and will give it a shot next year.

btw ... jess looks awesome and that's what i think figure girls should look like.

Hi Nandro. I'm an NPC judge and chief judge (along with my hubby ParadiseCup) and we both judge for Colorado. I saw Megan's picture and she looked great. She looks to have really nice shape and her legs look good, I would just concentrate on adding more upper body....shoulders and wider back to be the top 2.

As far as judging goes and gear. You are right in that we are not looking for someone who looks like they have abused it in anyway. But to be honest, we are also not there to judge whether a girl has used or not used. We are looking for someone who has a nice, shapely, balanced physique. You do have to look like you workout and also someone who basically has done their homework. Not someone who just walked off the street.

Megan does not need to take anything. All she needs is a good sound diet and intense training. Have her concentrate on those two components and I'm sure within a year she'll see a huge difference.

I'm going to train hard to put on as much muscle as I can for next year. (I'd only been training hard for 2 1/2 months prior the my diet) Congratulations on your competition!

Hi there pinkmouse. Yeah, I think I read somewhere, where nandro said that you only trained hard 2.5 months prior to starting your diet. WOW, see, now that is amazing! Can you imagine what a year of hard, intense training will bring you??? You will be amazed! Don't forget to take progression pictures, because sometimes you will think that you don't see changes, but as you compare weekly or bi-weekly pictures you will be so stoked to see the gains that you achieve. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask! PM if you'd like!

And thanks on the congratulations! I set my goal to do that contest a year ago and I trained my butt off during the year and bulked the whole way through. I took pictures too and as I did put on some fluff, it comes with the territory. So don't be afraid to add some fluff on....it actually helps you because your strength will increase as well.

things are pretty good but it sucks to be chunky! it took 3 months to lose the fat & 2 weeks to start putting it back on! thats crazy! LOL! but like you said, u have to get "fluffy" to grow some size! I like the word fluffy, it sounds better than saying I'm fat!
how are things with u? when is your next competition?

LOL! I like the word "fluffy" better than fat too!

Yup...I am not looking forward to my off-season. So far, 1 month post comp., I've only gained 5-6 lbs. I can see some slight abs and still got some striations in my shouders and some separation in my quads, but they are slowly dissappearing. hehehe.

Next comp will be the USA's next year. I know its a bigger show, but this show works better since I'll still have kids in school during the Jr. USA and Jr. Nat'l.
