So, just got my results back fromy my doctor and she tells me my test level is 345 NG/DL which shocked me a little bit but my doctor tells me that my test is "within range". So I asked her what age man do would I have similar test levels to and she says 60+. I was thinking "wtf?". How is someone 24 years old in range when my own father probably has higher test than I do. So I asked her what tests she could run to see whats up (maybe an issue with my body, not really sure I slept during human anatomy). She said that my tests are in range and normal..so basically I'm going to see a specialist to see what he says.

A little about me, Ive only ran one cycle over a year ago. 350 MG Test for 12 weeks. As far as I know I made full recovery, regrettably I never got a blood test. She made it very clear I am in now way ever going to get HRT from her, which is fine because I am no longer going to have her as my doctor but I was looking for some advice. I am going to try to see a specialist but I am interested to hear some input from people who possibly were around my test levels before going on HRT.

Anyone in here that had around the same test level as me go on hrt? What changes did it make? How do you feel? Do you regret it?

As it I can function, I have always felt I had low testosterone but it seems to have been dipping lately. I'm really trying to weigh whether it will be worth it to go onto HRT and the fact that once I comitt I cannot go back.

I'd stay with the doc you have. when I was 39 my test was 305 and neither my urologist or my gp would put on me trt.

I agree you should see a specialist, go to an endo, I think there are other things that can be done to raise your test but I'm not sure exactly what they are. stewie would probably know better than me.

I dont post much but I can tell you my experience. I was in the same boat but I was lower than yours and I recieved a letter from doc saying I was "Within Range". This was because every office has a range that they go by reguardless of age! So I called and discussed with doc directly and upon lookin @ my results. He agreed it was low for my age. I think if your doc is not willing to work with you then you are on the right track by seekin out someone that will listen or @ least look into whats going on. As far as regret it I dont! But deciding for yourself you have to weight pro/cons of the issue. I say see the specialist and see what else they can offer you to see if you can bring levels up without going on HRT.

Go see Endocrinologist, and yes technically you are within whats considered normal ranges.( but this is too low for a 24 yr old IMO)

The right doctor will take your #s into consideration along with other factors.

If you have symptoms of low test, then a good doctor will use 345 as a confirmation, not an excluding factor.

If you had 800,then obviously something else is going on.

There's a range for a reason - people aren't all the same. Take two people with a 345 and one can feel much better than the other.

TRT for life isn't the pain in the ass that one might think it would be... If you truly need it, once dialed in you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.

Hey man -- I was in a similar position to you. Can I ask what makes you feel like you need TRT? If you're having typical low T symptoms, and you really care about your health/fixing the real issues, I would try to narrow down the possible causes. Was blood drawn in the morning? What other labs were performed? Did you have a second morning test to confirm? Don't get too wrapped up in the serum number, it is just a number

Get another doctor! Preferably a urologist with a fellowship in andrology, an andrologist.

Yes, of course is 345 is "normal" considering that depending on the lab your doctor gets blood test values from, the normal range is 300 to 1000 ng/dl. However, a good, competent doctor who has any common sense will recognize your value is LOW NORMAL as well as pay attention to SYMPTOMS as well.

I've had hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism (low FSH, low LH, and low T) for ten years. I'm 32 years old now. When I tested for T after getting symptoms, some schmucky endocrinologist said my value of 290 was normal because the reference range used was 240 to 1000. Imagine that, a 22 year old complaining of fatigue, lack of well being, sexual dysfunction, and strength and muscle loss, with a crumby value of 240 ignored by a "professional".

Anyway, I went to my current doctor. He saw my values for FSH and LH were abnormal. I also went for a fertility test which showed infertility because of the low gonadotropins. So clearly this was not "all in my head". He put me on half a tab of clomid and that brought my T value from 240 to 790. I stayed on that for a few months and have taken Androgel or Testim ever since and my values are consistently between 700 to 1000 ng.

How did I feel when I was treated? Like my old self--like a normal, healthy male.

You say you know you fully recovered. Pardon me if this comes across sarcastic, because it's not my intention: How do you know you recovered if you didn't get blood tests? Your LH and FSH could have decreased from previous levels. You can be diagnosed with hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism by a doc if your FSH and LH and T are "low normal" and you complain of symptoms and are infertile.

Again, pardon me if I sound sarcastic. When men say something like, "I don't know if I should be treated because I know treatment is long term." In response, I ask, what choice do you want to make: 1) Have an untreated medical condition, that can lead to other conditions, (eg, infertility, diabetes, cardiac disease, sexual dysfunction, etc.), and feel like shit, or 2) treat a medical condition and feel good.

Nobody likes visiting doctors or pharmacies, but if they have a medical condition, they have to care for it. Visits for hypogonadism are only 3 to 4 times per year anyway, and you can save money on medicine with discount cards and if you have insurance. (The gels cost me ZERO with my insurance and discount card.)

My doctor is very flexible and understanding. He gives what the patient prefers and what works: clomid, HCG, T injections, gels, or pellets. When I want to have a kid, I'll be prescribed HCG or clomid.

I don't know how men feel alright at 300 to 400. I feel crumby below 500.

If you have more questions, ask here or PM me.

I wish I knew about testosterone when I was your age. I never used AAS but had low test levels when I was your age. One doc said it was "normal" and another offered testosterone but scared the shit out of me telling me it would give me prostate cancer and all this stuff. I didn't know anything about it. At least you do.

Find a decent doc or endo who deals with TRT in men a lot. Call the offices and ask the scheduling folks if the doc does a lot of it. Don't bother with a doc that doesn't do it much.

Get the appropriate tests run to see if something is out of whack that can be corrected. IGF, iron and ferritin, LH, FSH, estradiol, and prolactin are what they should look at in addition to your total and free test levels. If all that is ok they should order an MRI to check your pituitary.

Push for testosterone if after all the tests you feel you need it. Find a doc who will do it, they are out there. My GP gives test to young guys if they need it. He doesn't know a ton about it but he has no problem prescribing it if you need it. He's also from a foreign country, maybe that has something to do with it. Maybe he isn't as biased against it like Americans are.

If all else fails, and I mean after a serious effort with lots of docs, you can always self medicate and buy your own blood tests online. I wish I had done all of this when I was your age. I feel like I lost my 20s due to low test levels. Once I got on it I was like "wow, this is what I've been missing."

Don't settle for it if you have low levels and the symptoms of it. If you don't have the symptoms, don't worry about it. Some people do real well with low levels. Others, not so much.

Good luck!

id be happy with 300+.....

my total test = 80 ng/dl and free test was 3.9....try functioning with lvls like this...everyday is a struggle but through sheer will power I manage.

my gp was blown away haha but i told him what ive done and he was still surprised i was this low so hes running all the tests again plus LH,FSH, prolactin,estradiol...

weird thing is when i was on i was doing 120lb dumbells for 10 reps on incline and i can still do 95's on incline for 10 reps so my str hasnt decreased that much...

best of luck bro i hope you find a doc who will take care of you!

I've ha better luck with a urologist than I ha e with an endocrinologist. He's more concerned with making sure everything is where it should be including using hcg to maintain testicular size and sperm production.

Don't self medicate at your age man. I was in same boat. I basically now have been diagnosed with secondary hypogonadism and am on TRT at 26. My doc has me on HCG and will prescribe clomid and HMG when I want to have kids. HOWEVER (BIG HOWEVER), he first tried a standard HPTA restart protocol that would be insane not to try on someone under 30. That basically means 25-50mg of clomid every day for at least 6-8 weeks. Then you would stop, have a 2-4 week washout period, and retest. If it's good, then the clomid worked. In my case, my pituitary just wasn't responding well and my LH wouldn't increase enough.

didnt realize some of us young guys had these kind of low numbers.

did any of you guys get questioned about gear from your dr when you tested low? could you pass for not ever using, or was it obvious?

im 25 and wouldnt mind hrt but i dont think theres anyway my primary would even think about it.

Yes I got questioned and answered honestly. My doctor deals with a LOT of people who use or used gear and now have to be on HRT. He doesn't judge and doesn't care.

funny how one doctor can oppose trt for the same numbers another would absolutly think it was necessary. if you want trt and your doc wont go for it atleast try another doc

Yes you can always see another doc. There are ones that will not give you hrt no matter what and others will help you get it and even wont disprove of smart usage of roids.

Better though is the advice here about going to see an endo. They are much more likely to help you and if you keep your current doc there is no need to start all over with a new doc.

Good luck!

Get another doctor or try a anti aging clinic. Most doctors are clueless bout trt anyway.

As mentioned, find a doctor who treats the symptoms, using the lab value as a confirmation to their treatment strategy.

== With that said; you might want to reconsider a TRT script... attempting other methods is reasonable at your age...
