Im still into metal but Im getting tired of the growling/screaming/emo whining

I love Tool's vocals but I'm not into a lot of their 10-minute more prog type of stuff. I like really simple, heavy and catchy power chord type stuff.... a lot of Down I like, some Mastodon I'm really digging..... this one's out there but Doyle's new band I think is pretty good, just loud heavy riffs with clean catchy vocals. Black Label Society is hit or miss..... I love the riffs but his voice kinda gets on my nerves.

P.S. I hate power metal and all that symphonic high-pitched stuff as well, don't mention that. I'm also not into really technical stuff, just stuff to bang your head too.

I've got Orange Goblin and Corrosion of Conformity on my radar but looking for more

I like this stuff for driving/lifting background noise

Apocaliptia. Drummer and 3 dudes on cellos.

They did a whole cd that covered Metallica's black album.

They have their own material too.

Just saw them live. AMAZING.

Arch Enemy, Korpikllani. <---- fun, catchy folk metal

one of my favorites for a few years now if you want something different

Fear Factory, Chimaira, New Drowning Pool ( new lead singer from Soil)
Those are just some of my favs off the top of my head.

Check out Hibria and Avenged Sevenfold... Note tho that Avenged used to be a screamy hardcore band but they turned into a badass rock/metal band on more recent albums, vox are all singing now, albeit raspy and badass.

Check out Five Point O. They're a pretty badass non mainstream group. Only a single album but it's good

With Mike from Dream Theater, you're going to have to be a good band :)

Mercyful Fate, Deftones, Prong, Danzig, Metal Church, Orchid, COC, Melvins, Electric Wizard, Orange Goblin, Slayer, Testament, Texas Hippie Coalition,

I can keep going.. Enjoy!

Alright I'll be checking a lot of these out. I loved Avenged Sevenfolds first cd, hated the ones in the middle, but checked out the latest one and whoa, sounds kind of like black album metallica.

I think Orange Goblin is growing on me.... Slayer's awesome but I played angels/seasons/soh so much back in the day that I grew sick of them, I might check out their newer stuff.

Check out Katatonia

Katatonia is an excellent band that I do hear many talk about. Good vocals with heavy, but creative sounding guitar.

ive been on a suicidal tendencies trip lately

highly recommend "lights...camera...revolution"...shit makes me wanna sprout claws.
every track is solid.

love mike muirs vocals and poetry...totally original.

"art of rebellion" is good too...solid songwriting all the way through that one also.

"how will I laugh tomorrow" is ok...first four tracks are pretty awesome.

not a big fan of their early shit...I like the stuff after they "went metal".

Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Protest the Hero, Every Time I Die, Atreyu, some Trivium songs

All good songs for a workout mix I might add

Destroyer plays old fashioned thrash. The singer's does not growl but his voice is raspy. I saw them live, in Brooklyn.

It's tough to think of ones that don't scream or growl. Check out Disarmonia Mundi, Soilwork, and Trivium. I'll try to think of more. There's still screaming, but balanced out with some actual singing. Solid gym music.

Ahh damn, this just came on Pandora right now. 'The Mundane and the Magic' by Dark Tranquility. You will either love it or hate it. Probably no in between. :D As for me, I love it.

Static x, white zombie, monster magnet. No growls or queer screams. Pantera, slalyer, megadeath. I like most of the newer metal bands out there but hate the gurgles and growls
