For the past year, i have been taking NAC @ 1000mg twice a day. Is there a problem with this? I don't take any oral AAS but i do drink a bit on the weekends. I know most guys on here are supplementing with NAC because they are on orals, but my thought was to take it to help with the few beers and cocktails i partake in on the weekends.

Any harm in taking it year round?

I recall reading from dr Michael colgan when taking nac. Vitamin c should be taken at 3x the nac amount. So 3:1 ratio.

NAC is really good for you so I don't see why not

There was a study I read recently saying strong antioxidants such as NAC interfere with the inflammation and muscle growth process

Dont have a direct answer but here is a study that closely relates and is relevant. Its saying that long term low dose is better rather than long term high dosage.

We also examined the effect of long-time NAC treatment at 2 mM or 20 mM on IL-1β expression in LPS-stimulated human primary macrophages. Being similar to the findings of RAW264.7 cells, LPS-induced IL-1β mRNA expression was enhanced by low-dose (2 mM), but was inhibited by high-dose (20 mM) NAC treatment (Fig. S1).

Here is the full link: Long-Time Treatment by Low-Dose N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine Enhances Proinflammatory Cytokine Expressions in LPS-Stimulated Macrophages

I heard tudca was better than nac. Any tho ughts? Do you guys take both ?

Dammit I've been taking it for like a whole year straight. Only 600mg tho

John meadows advice was to take any anti oxidants as far away from your training as possible. For example just take them first thing am if you train in the evening and so on.

It's also dose dependant. Don't go too mad with it I'm sure you'll see an increased benefit even with a fairly low dose.

I train in the morning and take my supplements in the morning, so damn. I think I'll just leave the nac for oral runs only.
Would turmeric also be best taken away from workouts?

I think the difference would probably be minimal but yes I'd take them away from the workouts ideally. More specifically away from post workout.

Thank you so much for your advice, very appreciated [emoji123]

Yes, I've seen studies that say this too. I stopped taking veggies and vitamin C post workout because of this.

Can you explain why this is the case?

What's the harm?

I don't really remember, but just remember reading a couple of studies saying not to have antioxidants around exercise. Wish I could tell you but I'm sure you can google it and find it
