Pre contest carb timing

I've been reading about carb timing pre-contest and like most things there are a bunch of different ways people approach this. I've read no carbs in the first meal, no carbs pre workout meal (lethargy), I've read to use and not use carbs intra workout. Just wanted to see what all of you prefer and how you time your carbs.

Currently I'm hitting 1 cup oats at breakfast. 1/4 cup (dry) brown rice 2 hour pre workout. 50g Karbolyn intra workout, and 1/4 cup (dry) brown rice post. Im thinking about playing around with the Karbolyn and maybe dropping it altogether. Might push the oats back to my second meal of the day as well.

if your calories are in check its doesn't matter where you put then, i am at 5% body fat and 1 week from the Venezuelan nationals , an i am taken my carbs with my breakfast (around 100grs of carbs from oats or whole wheat toast) pre-workout, the rest of the day just protein and fats, during my whole prep my carbs where at my last meal to help me sleep better, bust yourself at the gym and your cardio ,and consume your carbs when you needed most

I do not believe in carb timing.

Thanks for the replies. I agree with you both, I was in a debate with a co-worker who was showing me an article by Pakulski and his ideas about carb timing. The only thing I ever noticed was lethargy from pre-workout karbolyn, and that goes away when the blood gets pumping.

I always tried to get my carbs in after AM cardio, pre workout, and save like 15 grams so I could have a couple of rice cakes before bed. My last few shows I never went under 100 gm ed.

keep carbs around workout to keep body mass or even some growth.
(but it depends what kind of gear your using for the growth)

and the rest of the day is for fat burning

As long as you can keep your workout intensity up it doesn't matter when you take your carbs. If you're in a deficit you are burning fat regardless of carb timing... just another myth to sell nutrition programs to idiots.
