Being on a forum is the biggest social media I use. I understand why people like facebook,twitter and Instagram. For business purposes and to keep in touch with family and friends. Just feels like the norm is exploitation and privacy is odd these days. Is there anyone besides me that doesn't use social media? No hate but doesn't anyone pick up the phone these days to talk besides flipping through apps?

I'm right there with you brother. This forum is the only social media I use and need really. Keep my circle small friends wise so If I need to talk to someone is text/call them to stay in touch and communicate.

I got social media, but I use my laptop and another computer. I have a tracphone and dont get on internet much at all on it, and use it for driving directions (gps) and texting. I know its not like everyone else bc people from kids and old men are glued to their phone everywhere, but O well I do whats best for me, and not following the crowd. If I get a cool phone where I can browse and such cool, but until now im behind probably ten years in technology and okay with it

i think social media like Facebook has ruined alot of people
i can't count all the bullshit drama I've heard it cause , from divorce , people losing their jobs to people being arrested.

I use multiple social medias. enjoy the convenience they brings, but also feel painful for it took a lot of time and energy.
Let us think about a question: if leave u a beautiful place no phone, no wifi for one month, what will you gonna do ?

social media is government run...they are keeping tabs
on everyone....I believe they have been involved with 100s of
sites for years.....now they are keeping tabs (trying) on everyones
DNA....blablabla, you send your DNA in to these "websites" you
put your name, ss#, personal info with a swab of your mouth....
and they tell you your ancestry....same with these "discount" or
special SWIPE cards for every single store....they can track what
you bought...when you brought it...where you bought...and watch
your spending habits....they ARE watching....they are keeping tabs.

its their way of trying to stay IN CONTROL....they see what everybody
is doing ALL the time....

people are getting busted....getting fired from jobs....these security
companies are being hired by large companies to spy on their employees
on facebook, twitter...ect....they make fake names and friend you....
then spy...and report it back.....I KNOW this is happening......

if you don't mind that.....then yea.....social media will just get you
divorced...



not to mention this "online banking" people are doing....lol

you must be a fool to upload your banking info into ANY banking site...
NOW they are keeping track of your money too...!!!!

There's been tech beyond your wildest dreams. It's seriously even beyond what sci-fi nerds can make fiction about. Metal robots and UFOs are just a joke. People talk about quantum technology and practical applications of string theory, but it's hard to comprehend how we're living on a plane that can be written-to like a hologram. And you can be watched, listened to, and controlled at any time from everywhere.

"The Internet" has a whole other meaning for some of those government types. All the while, they like to maintain many silly redundancies. And they're so confident that they'll even tell you about it.

Stuff like Reality TV and Social Media are just intermediaries to get everyone on board. Just think of being monitored as "being a reality star on social media."

reality tv is how someone as inept and ignorant as donny got elected president by the ignorant fearful masses.

And all this is true, not a conspiracy theory. One of my mates owns one of the companies that writes the software for this kind of monitoring and data cross-matching.

Here's a quick one for you - how do you think Google maps does live traffic monitoring? Does it have helicopters up in the sky or it points satellites at everything all the time? No. It monitors the GPS locations of smart phones. If there are hundreds of signals from a 1 mile stretch of road, then you have a traffic jam there.

Or the code my mate wrote - when you walk into a store, or by a store, the GPS monitoring flags the software and all of a sudden you have ads from that store appear on your phone.

Ultimately, it is not about government control. That is a byproduct. It is about consumerism.

I use social media and phones as a way to actually make arrangements to meet people face to face. Talking/texting a screen is not socializing. Texting is a very slow a cumbersome process to actually get your real meaning across.

how about this.....smart tv...

they can watch you whenever they want....through the screen.

how many people do shit they are not supposed to be doing
in front of the laptop screen...??? I have a piece of tape over
all my cams....and we put our phones (not in our names) in a drawer
when we are home....off.

I guess I'm paranoid....lol.....but I know this is happening.....and
I like my privacy.

I also DO NOT like ANYTHING sent to my home in the mail....I have
a PO box.....not even a Christmas card...

Facebook is a good thing. It's become the my main source of news since articles get posted constantly so I always know what's going on in the world. I unfollow the people whose updates I don't care about. It's a great way to stay in touch and maintain as many friends as possible. It's also a great way to get invited to certain events. It's also useful for my real estate business. I would never get rid of it. It's better for people of certain ages than others, or depending on what's going on in their lives.

Hell I never even had a myspace when that shit was popular 10+ years ago.

A couple juice forums are my only social media(if that even counts)

The only thing I use is facebook. I keep my privacy settings on for people not to know too much. My main thing for using it is for video chat with my wife while she is in Romania. It is free and clearer than Skype. I only allow a close network of friends know what I am doing.
