Cinnamon Extract for lowering blood sugar**

Wanted to do an experiment to See how much cinnamon works on fasting blood sugar.

Started taking 1 g of cinnamon extract approximately two days ago. Last night I had a really high carbohydrate meal consisting of pasta, bread and halo top ice cream. I took 1 g dose of cinnamon extract right before I ate and started feeling a little hypo about one hour later. So I checked my blood sugar with my blood glucometer and my blood sugar read 74. Now granted normally after a huge meal like thatwith desert my blood sugar will usually read about 105 to 110


So what I did is cut the dose back to 500 mg of cinnamon extract every meal and I'm going to experiment with this for a few days.

I want to add a few things to this post and I would also like to hear if anyone has experimented with just cinnamon alone. What I've felt so far is definetly reminiscent of dieting where insulting seninsitivy is high. My blood sugar feels lower after a meal. I'm staying hungry and I feel like my body is utilizing the food I'm eating a lot better as well. I've become a little desensitized to carbs being as I haven't diet in a while now. Also I've never tried a GDA or insulin once but I do know PLENTY about being carb sensitive while dieting.

Let me know what you guys think. I'm definitely proof you can take cinnamon extract alone and get a GDA type effect, at least with my body I have so far.
 
Cinnamon has been well known for its effects on blood glucose.

Just be careful with the extract being used as it can become toxic at certain doses. Try and use ceylon versus cassia.
 
Also want to try Chromium GTF. Heard it's very good at helping you metabolize carbs.
 
Capping my own for sometime now. Cheap and effective.

Use ceylon cinnamon. Mixed reports on other types causing cancer.
 
Alpha lipoic acid/cinnamon/chromium/bitter melon year round for me. Gda's are so important for health and not to many people use them.

bigliz that toxicity is for real mate with cassia i think it was i read. sucks cos i was having loads too in my meal 1 shake then i dropped down to a little just for flavouring.

Yes cassia is bad for the liver in high doses but 500 mg of the extract a Couple times a day is fine. Very easy to overdue of your adding straight cinnamon to meals though! Cylon is the best type if your worried about any toxicity.

The problem is cylon taste like shit. lol i have tried. one of the best orgainic one from.shri lanka it went into bin!

I found a sure fire way to lower my blood sugar....I eat less carbs....

Good and so do I, but I also eat less carbs when dieting. That is not the point here. I'm experimenting with a spice and The point is to keep natural insulin normal to high and blood sugar lower to help my body utilize and use protein and carbs I eat while in the offseason.
 
I have used 500mg of celon cinnamon twice a day for years. And it keeps my non fasted levels usually read around 80.
 
Jordan Peters is coming up with a really cool insulin sensitizer/GDA; I'm on the lookout for that. On days I'm pushing my carbs high; it would be a great ad on.

The longer we can stall that godforsaken insulin desensitization effects of bulking; the longer we can grow :)

Been taking a teaspoon of cinnamon with every shake as well as any carb meal for years. Never tested my bg levels.

I think it’s a misnomer to say one is carb sensitive. It’s either insulin sensitive or insulin insensitive.

I did have fasting bg levels checked on apple cider vinegar and that works lovely. Especially with car meals. Had my fasting bg level drop from 90-99 range to 80.

As far as supps like gda. I like the original John meadows product sold by truenutrition. Recently purchased matador from to try out. Has a solid ingredient and dosage profile. I also saw primeval Just came out with a gda. But its 7-pills per serving. Lol

I understand that cinnamon improves metabolism? Correct me if it is not so.

I love GDA's and have used them quite a lot but plan to use them even more over the next few years. I like the following: Gymnema Sylvestre, Berberine HCl, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Banaba Leaf Extract and Fenugreek.

This is the whole point I'm experimenting with little things here and there to keep this interesting. All the ingredients you just listed were on my list to try. I've heard mixed thing with Bernerine with the whole IGF thing so I was a little hesitant on that but Alpha Lopoic Acid is definetly on my list. I have a helf food store where I live that has all of this stuff literally on a shelf together so it won't be hard to go pick up.


Somebody mentioned apple cider vinegar I've also tried this along with the cinnamon and I believe ACV works by slowing gastric emptying because when I take it consistently I notice I don't shit near as much and hold a lot of food in my gut and I get distended.

Make sure that fenugreek is fenugreek 4-hydroxyisoleucine or an extract containing 50% saponins.
