Atrial flutter

Has anyone experienced or heard of an otherwise healthy person going into atrial flutter from sildenafil or tadalafil?

Fib's bad enough = warfarin to prevent clots (DVT, PE or CVA).
Flutter = pacemaker if it's sustained.
An erection does not trump the above.

Yes. Especially if alcohol is consumed with it.

Do you have a link for this? I quick checked (very quick) and didn't see anything stand out. I haven't heard this before but it is interesting if so.

How do you know it's atrial flutter and not palpitations?

I actually had atrial flutter that went undiagnosed through 2 cardiologists. This went on for years. I was actually going in to see an electrophhysiologist to see about a pacemaker. He spotted it and I had a cardio ablation procedure the next day. My heart had enlarged over the years of compensating for the low atrial output. I had the procedure almost a year ago exactly my heart function has steadily improved in that time. Mine was due to scar tissue from a heart operation I had when I was 4 years old, caused increased pacemaker cell activity. Don't fuck with this. Mine was really bad by the time that doctor caught it.

I had palpitations start Thursday so I went to Dr Friday. I had atrial flutter. They gave me a cardioversion to put me back to normal rhythm. I had every test under the sun for 2 days before I left hospital and all tests showed I was healthy and no issues.
Electro cardiologist said he thinks I may have sleep apnea and need to do a sleep study. Have follow up with him Monday.
Only thing other than sleep apnea is I took tadalafil the day before, however, I've taken tadalafil as well as sildenafil many times before. I did read in a study relating to sildenafil and tadalafil causing atrial flutter in some patients. So I was curious if anyone experienced that or knew of it.

Criticalben1....I want to get an ablation so I dont have to worry about atrial flutter again in the future. How was your experience getting the ablation?

I know from experience that alcohol can make my heart go into ventricular tachycardia and fibrillation. I don't think it is too much of a stretch to think it can do similar to the atria.

I had an ablation done in my ventricle to prevent VT (ventricular tachycardia). Mine did not take care of my problem. There is no guarantee that it will work, and some people need to get it done more than once. My doctor wants to do another one but for now I am saying no. In some respects I think the surgery made mine worse. It can do that, and in 5% of cases can lead to death after surgery. https://cardiacrhythmnews.com/rate-...entricular-tachycardia-ablation-as-high-as-5/

That being said, your problem is in the atrium and is much less serious. Look up the studies on it and see what is shown. My chiropractor has a patient that had atrial ablation I think it was 6 times before his problem was taken care of, but he wasn't hurt in any way and was fairly cured of his problem. Id say try the surgery if the surgeon thinks you have a good chance of success. Mine told me my chance was about 30% or so success. I bet your's will be much higher than that. My surgery lasted about 6 hours because the area he had to ablate was so large, yours should be much shorter.

Recovery is minimal. I returned home the very next day and didn't feel much different than before. I did take off 2 weeks of exercise just to be safe, but don't recall the doctor telling me I had to.

I went to the emergency care the day after it started as it was increasing in duration. They gave me an ekg, an electro cardiogram and a series of other tests.
I had atrial flutter, but all tests came back that my heart was healthy. They waited a couple days and monitored me with meds. I didnt come out so they took me out of it.

I'm following up with electro cardiologist Monday and I'll talk to him about ablation to ensure it doesnt happen again.

The cardiologist said it's not a zero percent chance it wont happen again with an ablation in my case, but its about as close to it as you can get.

The actual procedure was nothing. They drug you up. Fentynal and adivan i believe. I wound up in the hospital for a week because I had a bad reaction to the drugs, probably because my heart was weak at the time. Most people go home the next day.

It's a case study of a single incidence so hard to know what it means aside from that individual.

I was intrigued by it because I took sildenafil in the evening and the next morning began atrial flutter. After numerous tests in the hospital seeing 2 different cardiologists my heart was healthy.

It may have been from undiagnosed sleep apnea which I'll find out about upon further tests, however, the article about the two different viagra and cialis users going into atrial flutter peaked my interest.

I have afib. Somewhat controlled with meds. If i take cialis to many days in a row it triggers my afib. With a pretty big drop in blood pressure also, witch makes me feel like shit. I never touch equipoise or trenbolone anymore either it really triggered it lol.

This is great feedback! Sure sounds like a trigger. Once you learn your triggers then you know what to avoid.

Ive learned that meals too high in salt and alcohol are my big triggers for arrhythmia. Meals that are too big can cause me issues too, but I have heart failure.

I have a friend who says marijuana triggers his.

Oh yeah. I would get tachycardia when I smoked it a long long time ago many years prior to my heart attack when my heart was healthy. It is a well known fact that thc can do that.I don't dare touch any now.

It is often referred to as "Holiday Heart Syndrome" and is more common than you would think especially in men in their 30s and 40s. For a lot of individuals, they get Holiday Heart once, learn their lesson after being shocked back into normal sinus rhythm, and we never see them again for that issue.
