Accutane and dosages...I'm breaking out like crazy !

I just started on Accutane (12 days in) on 20mg a day, generic brand Cipla. I know its legit. I read many reports that it will get worse before it gets better. I am breaking out with bumps on my forehead, cheeks and my lips are drying up which I knew beforehand from what people on here told me would happen but its still pretty disturbing for me..Bought some Cetaphil lotion and lip balm.

My question is

1) Stay the course @ 20mg a day and hope it will get better sooner rather than later ?

or

2) Increase to 40mg a day and hope that it will speed up the time that it will get better ?

I personally have run accurate and always stayed 20-30 first 45 days then bumped up from there. I'd suggest riding it out. It should level out at a month or so .....

When I ran accutane about 4 years ago it was horrible at first but you must stick with it, trust me I had cystic acne and it was horrible 6 months of accutane and I rarely ever break out anymore a few here and there but nothing like it use to be. Lately I've been getting a little on my upper back and chest may go back on a light course to clear it up the stuff really is a miracle drug stick to it you won't regret it

Stay the course....you don't need to up IMO. You should start clearing up in 2-4 weeks. I'm not even sure 40mg would accelerate the process much...but it may kick the sides effects in more.

Thanks guys for the positive reinforcements on this. I damn sure need it right now as I am paranoid as hell interacting with people looking like this. I have cyst acne on my chest from using tren 2 years ago and still never went away. Damn I hope this shit clears up soon..

I suggest you stay away liver toxic products while on accutane. 20mg is a fairly conservative dose.

been on for almost 8 weeks now. started at 40mg now at 20mg the last week. my lips are much better than the first month.

I dropped dose only because I forgot to order more, as soon as it comes in I'm back to 40.

the back of my neck has had a few gnarly deep rooted cystic zits for ever it seems. they are gone, my neck is now clear.
my neck has been messed up for ages.

still dealing with it on my lower back and stomach.it moved from upper chest and delts, but it's better every day.

the first month was the worst. I do feel like shit though, mentally it brings me down and joint is pretty bad. breaking out in acne is worse mentaly though.

read what's been said for a light at the end of the tunnel. most every reply is positive if you run it out for 4-6 months.

Take NAC 2-3 times a day for your liver.

Also you mentioned u feel like crap mentally but is it because of the additional breakouts tane causes or it gives u general depression? Reason i asked because i read that tane causes general depression in some individuals, not sure how true that is...

the feeling like crap is the Accutane. my body aches and I can tell I'm taking something harsh. kinda sucks the energy out nothing drastic but very noticeablem


I've had 2 different brands. the first I cannot remember the name but the pills were brown(was generic). now I have roccutane and the pills are whit and a peach color.
I don't notice a difference between the two.

I've been in the tanning bed some this week. 7 minutes each time with no bad burning. going to keep going as long as I don't get burned.

200mg/DAY! crazy.... I got up to 80 for a couple days and hated it. I might me sensitive to it more so than others though.

I agree 100%. It takes about a month before you start clearing up. Its like the medication "pushes everything out, including acne that was brewing beneath the skin". I use a very low dose every day (less than 5 mg) and stay about 98% clear. I started the maintenance dose after my skin originally cleared and only used about 10 mg for a little over a month to get it clear.
