You should be using TOR anyway. So it doesn't matter if your IP is transmitted with each message.

That is how the FBI tracked the mastermind of the Silk Road web site that used Tor for online sales of all kinds of Narcotic and other drugs. They were able to scan the web server he was using in another country and by using his log-in to a website , tracked him to an Internet cafe in SF to make the arrest.

That guy made other errors. He posted on several forums that he used and registered with his real email address and was advertising his site.
