I have alot of experience cutting weight for meets. I consider myself very good at it. However, when cutting weight how much do you guys generally recommend per week. I usually limit it to two lbs per week. Anyone have any input or strategies they often use?

I’d try to have my weight steady while peaking for a meet. So if I was gonna go 242 I’d try to be roughly 260 by the time my prep starts and hold that. Then I’d just cut water weight to 242 for weigh in and rehydrate back to my training weight before lifting starts. Most people I know that tried to diet during their meet prep didn’t perform as good as they could’ve. So I’d try to do all my cutting as far as actual fat loss goes before prep begins.
 
Unless you are very fat, if you lose weight you will lose strength, you should evaluate if in general terms you will still be stronger or not.
 
Cutting weight per week? Why would you drop weight, fat, and change leverages and lose strength. If you were a 181 a good training weight might be 190. That would be a 9lb water cut over five days prior to weigh in on a 24 hour weigh in. Forget cutting weight if a 2 hour weigh in.
