Thoughts on a natural diet for your dog??

I ask this because I'm considering switching from regular dog food to a natural based diet for my dog.
It seems most all dog food brands are byproduct meals etc, so how is that better for them seeing they have a long shelf life vs natural foods?
There is certain food restrictions for dogs ie pork, grapes, macadamia nuts, onions etc but are there any people on here who feed their pets natural diets?
How have they responded?
I've been reading a lot lately and starting to think its a much better option for overall health and wellness.
Any input from those who contemplated this or do this please chime in.

I used an all natural raw diet for over 15 years. Best thing for your dog. Health, coat, longevity greatly improved.

I've been reading that is good to give your dog chicken livers and gizzards due to try taurine which is beneficial for them. Did you do this also?
I was going to use chicken thighs, some salmon, and beef (chuck and top round) for meat choices.

I do necks or backs with ground beef. I would use beef or chicken liver as well. dogs need green vegetation, but don't digest it well. In the wild they would eat the stomach contents of the animals they kill. I used Solid Gold Green Tripe this.
