Its like saying my car is making a noise, should i fix it, how much will it cost, how long will the repair take..

No one can offer any helpful feedback until we know size of hiatal hernia, what type of hiatal hernia, stomach involved and if so what portion, fat only, how large is the defect, any esophageal changes, was oral contrast involved and was any reflux on the study.

When you have that information please PM me and ill respond on this thread as helpful as possible to suggest next steps in managment.

How did they diagnose this?

I have an ex who was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia based on a CT scan of her chest that was required before a laparoscopy / thoracoscopy. In the preop consultations the thoracic doctor said he reviewed the scan and had a radiologist review the scan and neither saw a hiatal hernia.

As gotgame said, don't do anything without solid information.

This is interesting to me, because just recently I had to have an upper and lower scope done, and was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia, and according to my wife and subsequent follow up visits, they completely glazed over it and basically said they didn't want to do anything about it at that time.

This was following months of constant acid reflux and throwing up on a near daily basis. Tons of test and thousands and thousands of dollars later; I get diagnosed with the hiatal hernia, and they give me allergy meds thinking sinus drainage was causing my problems.

I have had a hiatal hernia since at least 2006. Most of the time I do nothing about it. About once a year the acid reflux causes a dry cough from a tickling sensation in the back of my throat. I treat this with Nexium for about a week and wait again until the next year. The doctors have been telling me for years, we don't need to do surgery right now.

You might want to see an ear, nose and throat doc, and go from there.

This exactly. He said through upper endo. For years Throwing up every morning. After every meal that's even slightly big. Lol big meaning a five guys burger and fries.

I didn't know there was different types of hiatal hernias. He just said it's big lol

Same thing here.I have hsd it for a while.I take omneprazole once a day 20mg.Also have to upper gi scopes twice a year.Pain in the ass after i eat a big meal but pretty much ive learned to deal with it.

I’ve also have a hiatal hernia, like was said before it’s not a big deal as long as you manage your diet. Mine acts up with huge meals, fried food, a lot of carbonated drinks. Basically irritates when there’s a lot of pressure in your stomach. So I eat good most of the time and take omeprazole when needed

The symptoms I was having that cause me to see my family dr was a scratching in my throat that caused me to cough all day long for months. It especially affected me when I talked. My family dr sent me to a ENT and he did an endoscope and found the hernia.

Maybe if I got to the place of needing a surgery they would send me to a gastrointestinal dr???

This doctor seriously said he didn't measure the hernia but it's very large. And...they don't usually do anything to it unless it's really causing issue.
Even though I have pains after I eat anything bigger than a Jr bacon wendys. In addition to having vomit urge every morning and after ever meal.
And what are these full pains after 16oz liquid, which I also wanna puke from.
