Pretty much a given that lipids would be bad, but also provided he isn't running it for unreasonable amounts of time his body and most bodies bounce back.

HDL was single digits after 60mg/ED Tbol for 5 weeks. Never used it since.

if you gear is quality I would do 40-60mg of each 2 days on, 2 days off. so 2 days var and 2 days tbol. Results would be better than low dose tren. You may want to ad low does low doe test depending on your body.

I prefer var over tren. I get more strength on var too. Besides I feel better... I don't know which is healthier but I feel better overall on var, maybe I'm hurting inside but altleast I am not feeling like diying mentally. Also on tren I end up looking depleted.
Plus on a high dose of 80-100mg you can see some mayor changes on a daily basis but I am pretty sure that on that dose is not mild on you...
Any of them would work. If you are fine with tren it probably makes sense to use that. Although why don't you run low doses of each. I am doing that now. You could run the same as me or lower. Something like...
30mg test p per day
30mg tren a per day
40mg avar per day
Run that for approx 8 weeks.
That cycle with the right diet is perfect for summer.
For a summer compound, 80mg/d of REAL 'Var kicks the shit out of 50mg/d of Tbol. So i'd pick that over Tbol. The problem with 80mg, is if whether you have used that dose? Some lose appetite and get cramps easily. My sweet spot for var is between 60-75mg/d of Var. If I much higher I lose my appetite and feel like I can't eat. I also get stomach cramps easily. Again, this is for cutting.
Now for me, I like tren ace as my numero uno cutting compound, but it depends on how you respond to it at only 200mg/wk. For me, the higher I go with Tren (within reason), the more pronounced the effects are.....BUT, sides increase too I didn't get much sides from higher tren doses when younger (outside of insomnia and sweating), but now at 43, I have to go lower. Tren can alos give me nipple sensitivity as well. So if you do well with your listed dosage, then go with that...but if not, then Var is my choice.
All will have sides, especially with lipids....some users more than others, of course.
