Just wondering everyone's thoughts on these? Picked one up and the readings are kind of all over the place.. varied by 4% bodyfat between measuring before a shower and measuring after.

Worth a dam or just stick to dexa scans? And also are there some tricks to these things I'm not aware of?

Its a scale. Nothing more, nothing less.
 
is ANYTHING more accurate than underwater weighing?
a scale to tell bf% i dont think will ever be correct cuz its using an electric current right? (i dont know much about em) but i would think bc water is a conductor the more/less hydrated you are will change outcome of the reading... when i was younger and full of piss and vinegar and wanted to really know what i weighed i did under water weighing

All the impedance body fat measurements will be a rough estimate. I’ve read up to 8% variance. Even just body weight on a digital scale can be a bit off. Weighing at the same time every day (morning, before eating) can help to give you a more true number. The mirror matters a lot more than what the scale says.

Friend who owns one of the gyms I use is a personal trainer&has a rather expensive high-end model he uses for his clients. I stepped on it for shits& giggles. Told me I was 34% BF. I'm closer to 8-9%. Not a fan lol :banghead:

Absolute nonsense!
I've been a trainer all over the country for 30 years. Only two measurements work.
1: The underwater tank.
2: The 9 site skin fold test done by a experienced person who has done hundreds of them. I've personally done thousands.
I can look at you and tell you within 1%
 
For those ever contemplating buying a stupid fucking smart scale.

They are fucking shit! This thing had me reading 18.7 percent this morning. Dexa scanned at 7%
 
My smart scale also consistently says I'm above 20% bf, glad to read I'm not the only one with this issue and that I can be assured it's my scale that's wrong :D

On a side note: it probably works better in people who are not on water retaining AAS? (going by how these things measure)

Not very accurate, it works by measuring a current that goes through your body, but hydration levels have a big effect.


The most accurate i've found to be calipers with proper technique and visual estimation. Those two together have always worked for me.
 
lol ya those things are garbage, super inaccurate. dexa scan or hydrostatic dunk tank ftw, but honestly bf% is just a number, as stated by others in this thread, how u look is what truly matters
