The last company I worked for we used SYMANTEC LETS ENCRYPT. Personally it made my job a lot harder because I had to unecrypt all the fucking laptops every time i wanted to make a drastic change to file system. It made my job wayy longer than without the encryption. But for security purposes it is amazing.

A VPN should only be one layer of security, but recommending it since it has not been mentioned before. It should make your network more secure and even improve internet connectivity. The one I use is Express (a review of which is here) but if you find that it is not best for you, there are plenty of other options, another popular one is Nord.
