ways to make money as a 25 yo

get in with the Union doing some sort of trade. by the time your 45 you could retire and start up your own little business or just enjoy life. use your time wisely dont just do little side jobs for cash. that leads you no were. in todays world benefits and a retirement plan are a must. side jobs might be tempting but in the long run ur waste time when you could be busting your ass at a Union job and climbing your way up the ladder to a higher position

what is your background?

I agree.

To the OP

I along with many other friends did the college thing. Debt up the azz in student loans, kissing azz in these so called Corp Jobs. Job security sucks.

I am not crafty with my hands....but my friends that are...went into Plumbing and Electric work. These cats are d oing much better than any of us....especially when the housing boom was in full affect.

When my Electrician friend hit a down turn...he does Temp work at Home Depot / Lowes. These companies pay you more just on the strength of you being licensed. Same deal with the Telecom companies...ie Verizon. and speaking of Verizon....my dude that works there does $100k with OT easy. Not to mention hella benefits and generous tuition reimbursement if you want to go to college. My Mechanic friend went to school to learn how to fix Porsches and other higher end cars...and forget about it. Summer house at the Jersey Shore and all.

My dad tried to school me but I didn't listen. Now I have to pay out the azz for simple fixes around the house. get skilled in something....if you can join a union. start making money....and then speak with a Good Financial advisor on what to do with your money. You don't need a $100 - $200k salary to grown rich. Just good money sense.

Sorry for the rambling....

how about go to school! Gives you 4 to 6 more years of chasing pussy and being dedicated to bodybuilding and you get a education. You can be a lawyer or dentist in 6 years if you really get on it. Best thing I ever did and I did not start school until i was 21.

a 4 year enlistement in the military almost completes a degree and gives a good bit of experience.

I went in the Marines when I was 27 did 8 years. When I was in I got 2 degrees and several 1 year certificates all the Military paid for.

When I got out within 6 months I started my own business and haven't looked back.

Find something you love to do and the money will come later.

Find out how you learn and retain information best, and pursue that style of education.

I thrive on visual examples and having a mentor to ask questions. Some very intelligent friends of mine (a mechanical engineer and a podiatrist) excel through reading and wrote memorization.

Figure that out, and go to school. Its not even what you take that is critical as it is immersing yourself in an educational environment and figuring out how YOU can do the best thing for YOURSELF.

Do that and get a sound foundation in personal finance (even just a few community college level courses). Dont piss away your earnings on frivolous things and youll be well ahead and set for a stable and comfortable life!

I was thinking of joing a branch. I'm 29.

+1 on joining the Military if you are still young. Free education. Free everything. You cant beat that.
You put your time in and it can pay off.

It didnt do shit for me.. 2 years out, hard to find work.. Personal trained at every big gym in the chicago area.. When they dont pay you more than 20 an hour, and your not guaranteed x amount of clients a day, its unreliable.. Cant be a police officer.. My 4 years and 2 deployments dont account for anything, just bonus points on a test.. I need college.. Its like starting over

In NYC your military counts For college so you can get PD or corrections

Something with residuals, merchant services/insurance.. pretty easy to build a 6 figure income if you keep at it for a few years.

Law school is a great path.. opens many gateways. Same with an M.D., you can go into research programs after the 4 years required to get your degree - great money and residency is no longer an issue.
