Test levels and enlarged prostate

My urologist read me the root act. My test levels are 2400 and prostate enlarged close to double size for my age. He told me I just need to stop test cold turkey.

I explained that if I stopped cold turkey my test levels would crash.

He told me finastride would take 6 months to do anything. I expressed the possibility of depression and other effects of stopping cold turkey.

I suggested PCT and HCG etc...he stated no that it will take a while, but cold turkey is the only thing he suggested.

He didnt even suggest doing any natural supplements for at least prostate.

He was very doom and gloom.

Anyone else ever experience this from Dr? Suggestions?

Fire him and hire another doctor.

It sucks you still have to pay for the interview process but unless you really like the guy get another opinion.

He's trying to save your life man. Not sure if there is cancer but twice the normal size isn't good news at all.

Iirc the first step in the treatment for prostate cancer is blocking (fully/ partially, dont know) testosterone. I could Be wrong tho, havnt read a lot about prostate recently.

Hope it isn't as doom as he portrayed it

No it's not cancer...I developed IBS 7 months ago and have had a million blood tests, colonoscopy, endoscopy, fecal, urine and CT scan....My GI Dr wanted me to follow up with urologist because I was having a little difficulty urinating.

Try cutting your sust dosage in half, and start taking daily low dosage cialis for your prostate problems. It might help.

Cutting your dosage is the first step. If you're seeing a urologist I assume you're older so you don't need more prostate issues than naturally occur in men.

Next is to find a new doctor. Not the easiest thing, but if you want someone who genuinely wants the best for you and is open to different ideas, that's what you have to do.

Was seeing urologist because I developed IBS and my GI Dd wanted to cover all bases.

Obviously guys should listen to doctors but I think he is way off. Come down to a very low dose of TRT. Low natural test can be bad for the prostate. Try TRT at 10-20mg per day like many do on here and see how you are. I wouldn't crash your hormones straightaway. TRT has even been shown to be good for the prostate. There are no definites though but if you don't cycle on/off frequently I wouldn't crash your hormones. It would be different if you were just on for a short period and know you can recover quickly. However someone who has blasted and cruised for a long time is not the same. I would do low TRT and see how you are then go from there. Notwithstanding if the TRT works you need to change the way you blast in the future to prevent this from happening again.

Lol... uhh all that sust will be in your system for quite a while.

Go cold turkey for a month then start TRT 100mg a week.

It's technically the DHT conversion from all the test that's fucking you up.

Either way it would be a good idea to stop taking 1000mg of test a week lol.

Also I'm pretty skeptical that finasteride would take 6 months to do anything at all but shit, I didn't go to med school.

I asked his assistant to confirm with the Dr that he was sure that finastride would be of no benefit to me. The Dr walked back into the room calling me Mr Drugs and I looked like the Hulk (rather rude).....again saying I needed to go cold turkey.

The main reason I suggested going to 500mg/week is because I just have a feeling the OP might have a problem with dropping to 100mg/week. Just a guess on my part......

It would be best probably to taper down slowly over about 4 weeks. because this will highly increase his chances of sticking to the new low dose. Dropping down really fast would be a huge shock to the body and I cant see being able to stay with that.

I would drop down in increments of 200 mg/wk. So week 1 take 800, week 2 take 600 mg, etc. Get down to 100 mg/wk. Be on that for about 3 months/ maybe even try to go natural after that and then see if your prostate symptoms get better. Get another exam from the doctor.

If you are like me, I had trouble urinating and found myself getting up in the middle of the night about 5 times. I now take a medicine called Flomax which is a bit easier on the body and doesn't block DHT. It works for me. Surprised he wont even try that with you. He sounds like an ass. I would probably look for a new doctor, unless you really like him otherwise. He is right though about your dose causing that. It is too high. How long do you run that, and do you cruise also or get off clean?

What was your PSA level?

How did they measure your prostate and what was its size. Did they get a PSA?

I wont pass judgment on prior physicians advice or offer any suggestions until we know what we are dealing with. Ive seen prostates where id be like efff that get off overthing now your bladder is thickened and ureters are large and kidneys are being stress big time! or ive seen some where i would suggest a different approach.

Just went through this a year and a half ago, prostate was not enlarged, but PSA had climbed a little bit to 4.5, so my urologist wanted to do a biospy and they found cancer so had to get it removed.
Still not back to normal and not back on TRT , hopefully soon as studies seem to show prostate cancer and TRT aren’t entirely directly related, too much science and theory for me. My Dr. said I could so back on after year if PSA stayed undetectable, it’s been a year and a half, but my wife is scared of me going back on, problem is I felt great at 150mg a week and now feel like shit most of the time.
Just wanted to give my experience, hope everything turns out for you.

it has to do with dht and estrogen rather than test levels. get your estro in range and should be fine. if not you could add finasteride/dutasteride.

alternatively you could swap some test for another anabolic to reduce the sides and estro/dht convertion. you could take 1/2 or 1/3 of the test you are taking now and add another anabolic - eq,deca,primo should do you well. so this would equal to 300-400 test and 400-500 anabolic.

It may take finasteride 6 months for someone with normal TEST levels but guarantee with your levels it will help very quickly.

you're on a gram of sust and yr test level is only 2400?
that's terrilble. way way too low.
and why would a doc NOT tell you what he did when yr test level, even being way too low on a gram, is still 3 times higher than normal?
or is this thread a joke and i fell for it by replying.
