Now researchers have confirmed that vitamin D and estrogen can improve women's bone health; recently, a study published in the international magazine Menopause (North American Journal of Menopause Society), scientists from Sun Yat-sen University and other institutions found through research The same combination (vitamin D and estrogen combination) can help inhibit the body's metabolic syndrome, which increases the risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes in postmenopausal women.

Today, the metabolic syndrome has became a major public health problem facing the global population, affecting 30%-60% of postmenopausal women's health globally, as women age, leading to abdominal obesity in metabolic syndrome and the progression of heart disease will increase significantly, and it seems to be directly related to the loss of estrogen in postmenopausal women, which often leads some researchers to recommend estrogen as a means of preventing heart disease in women who have been less than 6 years after menopause.

Vitamin D is directly associated with a variety of metabolic syndrome biomarkers, including obesity, hyperglycemia, insulin resistance, and type 2 diabetes. After 20 years of follow-up, the researchers found that additional vitamin D supplementation can reduce metabolic synthesis in the population. Now researchers have found that vitamin D and estrogen have a synergistic effect in improving women's bone health. Therefore, in this paper, the researchers speculate whether the same combination can also improve the metabolic syndrome of the population. The study enrolled 616 postmenopausal women between the ages of 49 and 86. These participants received estrogen or vitamin D/calcium supplements at the beginning of the study. The results showed that there is a positive correlation between the levels vitamin D and estrogen .

Specifically, there is a correlation between higher vitamin D levels in the body and good blood lipids, blood pressure, and blood glucose levels, while estrogen has a negative correlation with cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood pressure levels. Studies have shown that vitamin D and estrogen deficiency may play a synergistic role in postmenopausal women with metabolic syndrome. JoAnn Pinkerton, a researcher at the North American Menopause Society, noted that lower estrogen levels may increase the risk of metabolic syndrome in postmenopausal women with vitamin D deficiency in this cross-sectional study. The American Endocrine Society recommends that vitamin D levels in postmenopausal women should be maintained at 30 ng/mL. Whether or not sufficient vitamin D levels can improve non-skeletal cardiovascular function or brain cognitive function is still a topic of debate among scientists. People also need to conduct a large number of randomized clinical trials to be able to confirm.
