I remembered years back, i followed Phil's diet plan to eat only when hungry. My macro was 30g protein, 40 carbs, and 10g fat per meal.

Does anyone still follow his principle? Basically, he's against force feeding and is strong believer in listening to your body. But did this work for anyone who is cutting or bulking? Hope you could share your experience.
 
I'm currently sort of doing this. Been clean for 6 months not really training much , drinking partying, viagra nights all the good stuff but physique taken a hit. I'm just eating what I want when im hungry but body building type foods and geting at least 250 protein a day. Carbs and fat no idea what I'm getting Working really well. Up 7 kg and belt not tightened at all. Muscle memory and gear I contribute this too mainly. I would never even think about cutting on this apporoch though. All I think about when dieting is food and I need set macros
 
This off season I have been. Bigger but less frequent Meals, let hunger set it and then use it to slam down food. Rest and repeat
 
I still follow Phil's philosophy of eating only when hungry. I used to force feed myself when I was younger and all that did was really stretch out my stomach, cause bloating, nausea and distension. I didn't feel as though it was very healthy. I disagree with some of Phil's views on things, but this was something I talked to him about and could see his logic. Eating when I'm hungry has helped me feel better and have better control over my portions, not to mention eliminate the nausea and bloating.
 
I think it's good for some, not good for others. If you followed this principle exactly, what do you do when appetite takes a hit from something like anadrol or ephedrine? You wouldn't be eating much. People like me, who have monster appetites, would get fat if we followed this. Others swear by it, however if they have normal appetites.

I think it naturally comes back after a while of undereating as your body tries to grow from the gear. It's when you try to force ime the hunger never returns. I've had days appitie goes to shit and I don't eat much and next day ill be like a human dustbin. I think set macros are the ultimate aporoch but I'm enjoying the mental break just eating when I want too and what I want but clean food and its working real well. I've had other days I have little hunger all day then suddenly at night I'm starving and I'll have something like 2 large backed potatoes with low fat cheese and 4 poached eggs and 2 or 3 chicken breast. I never feel bloated or sluggish eating a big meal at night like this if the hungers there and my body seems to rip through it. Always seem to wake up with a flat stomach doing this. Tbh though im only doing this as im trying to balance a lot of other stuff in my life and 7 meals and macros etc not ideal for me currently

I tried it and i felt that i have retained allot less water, more energetic, better mode and clarity.

That's good for health and maybe dieting but not building muscle. Let be real, Hernon didn't get to his size with fruit as his only carb source.

I try and include fruits as one carb source / one of my carb meals. Definitely have less bloat when I do this.
 
No offense to Phil as he is a wealth of knowledge but I know me personally, I could easily WAY over or under eat and gain too much body fat or lose too much muscle.

It wouldn't benefit me in anyway.

To gain any kind of weight for me I have to force feed myself. My metabolism runs way to high... I could lose 5 ta 6 pounds of water easily in a day of hard work on the road. Face it if you want to grow you have to eat and eat and eat. All the gear in the world isn't going to help you without food. That just IMO

100% agree and I'm on same boat.

This is true. The statement seems a little too blanketed to apply to everyone. My appetite fluctuates, but if I had followed it over a long span of time, I would be far overweight.

No its moronic. If I listened to my body Id eat 10,000 call a day, be a fat fuck and never do cardio. I'm always hungry. To achieve high level results you have to do things you may not want too or that your body "doesn't tell you to do"

If I only eat when I'm hungry, I drop 10lbs within a few weeks. My metabolism is way too high for this, and there was a reason I was 130lbs 9 years ago.

Hint: I only ate when I was hungry.
 
For me eating when I get hungry doesn't work. I feel that I should not wait for my body to send me that message. I have got much better results by eating by the clock..... Every 3 waking hours I feed .....if I am putting on too much weight I'll dial down my portions. Been eating this way for years with success.
