I wouldn't be supplementing with more than 200mcg. Certainly wouldn't be supplementing with it unless deficient. Selenium is quite abundant and found and quite a few normal foods we eat daily.

I'm already getting a good 300-400mcg Selenium from diet alone, is there any point in supplementing?
 
Everything you cited is regarding UBIQUINONE(COQ10), not UBIQUINOL.



I'm aware but i think most people know that ubiquinol is far superior so I mentioned that one instead. You're right though, I probably should have said CoQ10 as the studies used.

Yes Brazil nuts is a great source of dietary selenium
 
In the body, CoQ10 exists either in its oxidized form, ubiquinone, or in its reduced form, ubiquinol. When oxidized CoQ10 (ubiquinone) is used by the body, it transforms and becomes ubiquinol. In the same way, reduced CoQ10 (ubiquinol) becomes ubiquinone when it carries out its role in the body.

So should I be supplementing with COQ10 or ubiquinol? I know that COQ10 is a little more cost effective but the absorption rate is poor. Is this right? And which do you prefer/use?

Yes plenty of research says no need for "extra" selenium supplementation. In fact it could do more harm then help. But the COQ10 def want 100mg a day of that ubiquinol. Very important. Also add in 600-1200mg a day of NAC.
 
Yeah, selenium is tricky..probably going to just leave it out when I run out of what I have soon.

However, 100mg Ubiquinol for sure and 300-400mg if you can afford to go above and beyond.

I'm wondering if I should lower my dose from 400mg to 200mg on the ubiquinol. My 110lbs mother was taking 400mg and got her CoQ10 level tested and it was double the normal range. I think I'm gonna get the lab test first before deciding but it won't be for a while.
