Not looking for sympathy or anything just a heads up as to why getting old sucks balls. Lifting heavy most of my life and working hard labor as well adds up. A few weeks back at work took a bad fall and felt some things go the wrong way lol. Well turns out I have a full tear of my supraspinatus in my rotator and a partial tear of the tricep tendon.

To add more fun, I also have partial tears in the same elbow of my radial collateral ligament, common extensor tendon and common flexor tendon.

And it gets better...a torn meniscus in my knee. Fuck me!

I will be having a bunch of surgeries coming up, and will be out of commission for quite awhile. Best case for me is next spring I will be back in the gym easing back and somewhat normal by the summer.

Never posted about it at the time because I was very down on myself but I tore the tricep tendon on the opposite arm a few years back and had surgery and recovered nicely so I'm sure all will go well.

So right now it's all about clean diet and cardio as much as my knee will allow. Slim down and stay lean at about 225 for the foreseeable future. It's definitely time to reevaluate and look at the big picture. There is a time for all of us to face facts as we get older and this is mine.

And you know what? Im ok with it.

Yeah.. I have had so many injuries.. And am working around many now.. But i am also in process of slimming down.. My bf is too high.. I'm 262 right now.. But want to take off the bodyfat and be around 245 or where ever " leaner" might take me.. I'm not willing to lose muscle lol.. That mentality will not go away.. Lol.. But I do want to get much leaner .. I'm not going off trt doses.. I have no desire right now to up anything..

I'm with you. Thing is I'm pretty lean right now just know it could be better and healthier. TRT doses are it for me going forward as well, and I just feel better lighter. I'm sure you will too. I found out recently that I'm spilling protein in my urine and the specialist said I need to make changes. He said I'm still ok for now according to the gfr #s from the 24hr urine test but cannot keep doing crazy reckless shit. So a lifestyle change it is and I'm taking this down time to get it right.

I know how it is to work around injuries for sure Lats but with my job it's not an option. Gotta get these things fixed and get back out there.

Hang in there BN....I'm 47 and I know how it feels to be getting older but still wanting to train like I did in my 20's. At my age its time for me to start training smarter instead of training harder. One of the reasons I like coming to this board is because there are a lot of guys our age or older that talk a lot is sense about training and gear usage as they have gotten older. Pesty would be a great example. He is 57, stays on trt, and looks ripped with six-pack abs. Shows what a person can do when they really put their mind to something.

Just try to stay positive BN...eventually you will get all the surgeries done with, and you will be fully recovered. I know the down time sucks...but you will get through it....and you will be a better, stronger person after dealing with with the adversity.

Sorry about the injuries, BN:(

I hear ya on the getting old and getting hurt CRAP!

My right should is shot, after falling dead smack on it a little over a year ago...dead smack on it on the patio concrete running from wasps...like a pussy, lol:eek: It hurt so bad for weeks, but I never went in right away because I was already schedule to have Gall Bladder and a hernia surgery a week after the fall....and I'd been waiting on that for a few years and didn't want it prolonged. I gave it a good 5-6 month break after my surgery, and when headed back to the gym for a few months earlier this year, I had a serious reality check of having to lift like a vagina. It was cool though, and just being back in the gym was a morale booster, but yea, talk about putting the governor on:(

A few months back in, around 3-4, I needed to get a few projects done around the house I had put on hold the last 2 years, so those along with the gym was tearing me up on the shoulder, so I have been MIA from the gym since April...AGAIN:banghead:

Been getting a lot of stuff done though, which is cool...along with getting time in with my dad. I'll tell ya, just shoveling dirt and my shoulder was pounding. I might get some of Mike Arnold stuff to help with these cases....as seeing Ibuprofen/Aleve don't do jack-shit, and good luck getting a script for anything that actually takes the pain away. I can get all that shit, but get random drug screens...so it's a no go.

lol, sorry, just did a poor me on your thread, brother.

Good luck man, hang in there, it will all come out better in the end, and you will be back better:headbang::cool:

bro!!!
see what happens when you go to the dr!!!!
fuck that!
i dont wana know how bad it really is! lol ;)

getting old sucks!
especially when you put on "high millage" years!

any surgery is scary shit, take it serious n be safe!
down size for health too bro, you know we gotta evolve to stay alive!

be good!

wish you all the best!
much love brotha!

Damn I feel bad for you, you're gonna shrink so much. I know how that is I tore my pec and went from a lean 260 pounds to a skinny fat (by my standards) 220, a shadow of my former self and was like that for 3 years, now I've gained a lot of the muscle back though not all of it and am doing pretty well minus tweaking the pec here and there. You'll get back there if you want to.

Bald,

Your positive attitude will transfer to a faster healing process.

It sucks to be laid up, but the comeback with a fresh perspective
is the best thing that can happen to us.

You'll still be a BEAST, just a much more healthy one :)!

BN is the toughest guy on the board. Hope things get better brother!

Hi BN....with your injuries, moving forward, and of course getting older, do you plan on training differently once you healed up? Thank you in advance.
Take care.

good to hear you're okay with downsizing. Some guys would rather be big and not care and think health issues will go away. Look what Dorian did, a great example. Health is more important obviously

Good luck on your surgeries.

Thanks guys.

Yes sir, going to go the more rep route. 10 or more most likely and even do DC restpauses with the higher rep range. I have lived in the 6-10 rep area for awhile now, but always throwing in a set of 3-5 reps and one in the 10-15 reps also on compounds mostly.

My job requires strength and conditioning but adding all the heavy training on top of it just doesn't cut it anymore. Too old for this shit.

Been wanting to downsize for awhile now and last 2 years have dropped a lot of unnecessary size. I constantly get complimented that I look better then ever so I'm fine with it. Would I still love to walk in a room at 270-280-290 and scare the hell out of people, of course! But it's not worth it anymore. Got to think about my family...

High mileage, you ain't kidding brother. We talked a lot about health me and you. I was definitely doing the right things to get there, I changed a lot of things around already. But this is the last straw. Like I said a lean, muscular, and healthy 225....I'll be happy. Love back at ya bro!

hey didn't you have a surgery for a removal of a bursted heptic adenoma years ago when u are on dbal/tren cycle? How you be doing since then, any issues?
staying away from live toxic compounds or not really?

i wish i had your attittude when i was younger. at almost 48 i do now kinda.
but younger me, when i got hurt. tore this broke that, id go the exact opposite route.
if i cant work out and be healthy im gonna smoke drink and drug it up every day cuz why not and i kept feeling sorry for myself and get frustrated.
now when i get some injury i take it easy and dont obsess about the gym at all
plus im done with gear except 100 test a week so my days of big and lean are over. medium and lean from now on.

The cost

I know its probably not high on your list of worries, but I always try to keep the cost of things down as much as possible. Since you have so much torn up it would make the most sense to try and get it all done in the same calendar year so that you hit the max out of pocket for insurance and then the rest is done no cost to you. If you do some now and then some next year the deductible will reset to zero and youll have to start all over again.

Sorry about your injuries brother but it's good to hear your adjusting your perspective to keep you long term healthy.

Luckily for me I fell at work from about 5 ft up, hard! I'm very lucky no bones broke. Went to the hospital immediately and saw my ortho asap. I'm covered by my job thankfully. We get hurt a lot so we have great coverage as part of our package. No worries my man...

Yea, I'm actually doing good all these years later. I basically have been on HRT ever since and would bump it up spring/summer then back to HRT. I get blood work every 3 months and scans every other year. Been doing that ever since and never had a liver issue again.

I allowed myself to use everything but orals. Went high on doses quite a few times and did try dbol one time since those days. I swore I never would but my bloods were always good to great. So thankfully I survived but now that's it. It's really time to go straight HRT and live normal. My main concern now is keeping my kidneys good and joints functioning well. Only way to do that is getting clean and focusing my training on functionality.

Thanks for asking bud.

BN, have you looked into healing peptides like BPC157? May be worth a look... Seemed to make a difference with my rotator cuff, although obviously that's nothing compared to your issues.
