Why does bloodwork get worse with age?

Everything from Hematocrit/Hemoglobin to lipids, to tolerance to orals. It seems that your body has a far greater stress response in your 30s and 40s to drugs, compared to your 20s.

Is there an actual scientific reason behind this? Did you guys who've been doing this for decades notice this?

I've had a Hematocrit of 48, HDL of 54 (Granted Grandma's HDL has tested as much as 70 on her measly sedentary diet), and not much else out of range on 5-600 mgs of test and 500 mgs of NPP (which isn't insane, but still damaging bloodwork wise); the thing is, I'm in my early 20s, so I can apparently get away with it.

This won't be the case as one ages though. I wonder if the: "Time under stress" concept applies here, where if someone starts taking steroids in their 30s, their bloodwork won't be as bad as someone whose been doing this for 10 years, and are the same age.

Is there anything that gets better with age? Wisdom, perhaps?

I've definitely noticed this having started right before I turned 25. my CBC panel wasn't an issue the first couple of years.

In simple terms we grow/develop into our prime then afterwards we simply deteriorate until we die. It's just the life cycle so our bodies start showing signs of stress as we age and are unable to withstand more and more. If only we could all age like a burger and fries from McDonalds  Instead we all age like fruit :D

Yep slowly the systems start to slow, apoptotic cell death, programmed into the genetic code...... Can slow it down with proper physical and mental development and of course diet... But like the old man said "don't worry about it kid.... ain't none of us getting out alive!"

There’s a general lessening of the body’s processes with aging. Organ system resiliency to external and internal strain decreases. These changes occur naturally, and are obviously more apparent when exogenous factors are involved like aas or other drugs / alcohol.

As cells divide repeatedly, there is not enough telomerase, so the telomeres grow shorter and the cells age. And cells then weaken every time they reproduce.
