Is it possible to have normal BP and high RBC count?

My BP is well within range, what are the chances of my RBC being high? Is there any relationship between the two? I know a common symptom of very high crit is the beetroot face and I feel like there probably is a relationship between the two but I don't know how reliable it is...

Yes it is possible. Get yourself tested and you can find out if it’s high or not.

Yes It definitely can. My blood pressure got pretty damn high at one point, but ive never had rbc's that were elevated to any concerning amount even when running high dose eq

My last after giving blood at 20.9 was 140/75...lower than ever and right before getting a tooth pulled.
Still need to donate a lot more or just get A transfusion...lol

Yes it is possible. My BP has always been stellar but my hematocrit gets high very quickly if I miss a regularly scheduled blood donation appointment.

In general, no. As blood gets thicker it takes more work to keep it pumping, causing higher blood pressure.

If your blood is thicker....yes, it usually means higher bp. But higher bp definitely does not always mean thick blood

My RBC was so over the top once from a gram a week of eq that they wanted to admit me in the er they were acting like I was going to drop dead right there on the floor. Yet my bp was 149/66. I failed to see why they were so alarmed. I was 250 lbs ripped. Then they started in on the steroids. Lol it’s amazing I’m still alive ten years later ha

Not surprised they freaked out. 149 has always been high but is now considered stage 2 hypertension in guidelines released last month.

Last year at this time I was denied donation...RBC was 20...a month later RBC was 17 and bp was 110/70..........kvh

I think that all depends on what doctor your talking to, and how much they know. I actually had a cardiologist tell me flat out,

"Your 6'2 @ 275lbs, YOU WILL NEVER have a bp of 120/80, your heart simply has to work harder to pump blood then a guy who is 5'8 and 150lbs"

He was happy as long as my BP stayed around the 130-135 mark.

100% true, though I'd say that doesn't mean it's necessarily healthy, it's just the facts based on size. Could very well be totally safe for you. But there's a reason many guys downsize when they get older, retire from competition, etc.

My RBC has always been on the higher side but my blood pressure rarely goes above 120/80. Even when I'm sick it's 130/90.

I'm 6'1'' and 280-300lbs. My BP is always in the 120/80 range.

as my hematocrit gets higher so does my bp. I can feel my bp soar as my donation time creeps more closely. Also via bp monitoring of course.

7 weeks ago my hematocrit was 19.4 and today when I donated it was 17.8 . after donating my blood pressure drops about a solid 10 points or so on diastolic and systolic numbers.

im only on trt also.
