Who here has submitted their 23andme results into one of these health DNA reports?

I took my 23andme and submitted to Promethease and FoundMyFitness.

Curious how in depth everyone looks into these results. Going off some of the DNA feedback, some of the report does come back accurate.

For example, slow metabolizer of protein and fast metabolizer of caffeine. I imagine being a slow metabolizer of protein is what causes me to have higher BUN and creatinine levels when protein intake is very high. Certain amounts of caffeine don't have near impact on me as a slow metabolizer.

Another interesting one is CYP3A5 non-expressor, being unable to metabolize certain steroid hormones such as testosterone, progesterone and androstenedione.

I looked into the DNA reports after reading your post. Honestly I have never heard of a comprehensive DNA test. Sounds pretty interesting. You mentioned finding inaccuracies... how helpful did you find these? Its a pretty cool concept. I wouldn't mind giving it a shot.

I had a patient just today that had DNA testing specific for nutrition. Found out about which foods were best for her. Dropped 20 lbs the first month, significantly reduced inflammatiin markers. Its called genomics, and tests were performed by a biochemist.
Id look into something like this

I've done the 23andME, FoundMyFitness and Promethease reports.

Some of the inaccuracies I found seemed more to do with different genes influencing the same issues/traits (like heart disease, stroke risk, baldness, etc). So it's hard to tell if it's an inaccuracy or not.

I found it most helpful for myself in that I have no male relatives on my mother's side of the family, and none in the last couple of generations lived past the age of 30, and I know nothing of my sperm donor's side of the family. So for me it was important to know what potential risks I had, especially before starting a family.

This may be something worth while for my wife. I've tried nearly everything the last year to help her lose weight. I keep telling her slow and steady wins the race....I often thought it may be something related to food. I'm gonna look into this for her. Thanks!!

I read a few reviews that claimed similar inaccuracies like yours. How old are you now? Did your family members pass from ailments like the ones they told you about?

Well clearly you sound devoted to your family, and from things you've posted your living your life to the fullest. Regardless of any situation we all have to make the best of it. I hope all is well with you now brother.

I've done 23andme and submitted it to livewello. I also did Fitnessgenes.

They useful and tell you interesting things. For people like us who work out, I find fitnessgenes to be the best one. 23andme is good too though and can tell you if you have any genetic mutations, or prone to things like alzheimers, parkinsons, etc.
