Do any of you bros have hearing aids or need them?
Long story short, I've had worsening hearing for about a year now and have played the stubborn card on getting them checked out. Finally got bad enough that I had no choice but to go to a hearing specialist.
My ears were beyond plugged and one of them has an infection. After the cleaning I could actually freaking hear great, or so I thought. after the cleaning they gave me a hearIng test. Fucking failed badly. Moderate to severe permanent hearing loss in my left ear and my right ear is not much better.
The only real fix? hearing aids. I'm in my mid 30's here, would have never thought hearing aids would even be in the picture. Bad hearing doesn't run in the family or anything. Guess all these years of playing in the dirt, playing with big motored toys, around construction dirt/dust along with loud heavy machinery without ear protection has caught up with me.
Anyhow, they prescribed me zpack antibiotic for the infection and I go back next week for the hearing aid consult. Fricking yay for me.
So my question to you bros, anyone out there had them at a youngish age? Are they a pain in the ass as far as discomfort or do you get used to them? Has anyone had bad hearing and was able to correct it without hearing aids?
