Antidepressants/SSRIs Experiences And Sexual Side Effects

Cannabis works for some but it’s kinda like klonopin for me where it subdued me or chills me out for the moment but doesn’t fix the overall problem. I’ve tried many SSRIs with very little luck. They make me tired and kill my sex drive.

I tried Prozac but couldn’t stay awake on em. Made me super sleepy to where I had to take a nap multiple times a day.

Switched to Zoloft and got my life back!! I’m on 100mg daily. I’m 99% anxiety free. Only sexual sides I’ve experienced from Zoloft is it’s difficult for me to climax.

Personally would never touch SSRI's again after being prescribed them in my teen years for no reason. They caused me many problems

There is in fact already an SNRI/Viagra combination pill on the market. It's supposed to work immediately to curb premature ejaculation. It contains Duloxetine.

Let me tell you, not being able to finish is mega frustrating. Without exaggerating, I've had sex for hours on end after taking Viagra and when you are just at the edge of orgasming but can't quite get over the last hump it drives you crazy. What always ends up happening is that I'm able to finish the next morning. But females are first very impressed but then start thinking you don't find them attractive enough. It does NOT help to explain that this is a drug reaction, they just won't accept it lol.

yeah man that is awesome, i have anxiety and already take xanax every day, i will check into zolo and see how i respond......i HATE taking pills for this stuff, ive tried 5 different things and they all ended badly, i was told i was a non responder, but never tried zoloft, so i will give it a try

I’ve always had OCD and that was the diagnoses , but everyone has a uniqueness in them. Guess it’s just the way we are all created. I use my ocd towards positive things instead of using a bandaid. But at 12 years old, you can’t really make diagnoses lol

Anyway, I believe that amphetamines can be very effective drugs for a wide variety of purposes, although I also know from personal experience that they do have great potential for abuse. I am trying to be the responsible guy using amphetamines to be more productive in my professional and personal life, although in the past I have also been the reckless drug dealer abusing huge quantities of Adderall and other stimulants to stay up for days on end, taking care of business. So I am trying to walk that fine line and use it for it's intended purpose, but my appetite for self-destruction may catch up to me yet.

It always amuses me to see bodybuilders using all kinds of bizarre pre-workout supplements, with all kinds of stimulants in them that are not very well researched, and the side effects questionable at best. Why not just use the basics that are well-researched and have been around for decades, like amphetamines? I would much rather use a low dose of Dexedrine to get up for a workout, than some powder in a can labeled Dark Wrath or Berserk Rage or whatever, with who knows what stimulants in it.

The same reason people are drawn to sarms yet to even be tested in rats vs 50 plus year old and researched anabolics..........................shiny and new and ease of availability.

Very true. How many guys on this board, or any board, are on massive permabulk cycles of Tren, Trest, DHB, HGH, insulin, all kinds of peptides...and yet they look like crap compared to bodybuilders of Arnold's era using only Deca and Dbol.

Sometimes the old choices are still the best choices.

Turning that to this discussion, my OCD problems didn't use to be as bad as they are now, and what I've been using for the last 5-6 years to get to sleep at night and control anxiety is Valium. An old reliable choice.

Yet now that Valium isn't working for me as well as it used to anymore, so now I find myself having to try something new to control my OCD and anxiety symptoms. Psychiatrists will recommend the SSRI's, but they come with their own risk of problems, especially the sexual side effects.

So I and the original poster of the thread are wondering what other people have successfully used to combat their OCD and anxiety issues, and what kind and severity of side effects they encountered. Because sadly we have to move on to something new, and new paths have as much chance of failure as success.

My fear with this med is that despite the PDE-5 inhibition of the V the SSRI would work too well and the net result would be the inability to arise to the occasion. I am interested in trying it though and eventually will get around to it.

I made a thread a year ago about my OCD and how severe it has gotten. I’m still pretty much in the same place and it’s gotten to the point that I’m seriously considering meds.

I have a big surgery coming up in a few weeks so I can’t start now (SSRIs increase risk of bleeding), but I will most likely start as soon as I can post op.

My Psychiatrist would like me to start on Prozac or Luvox.

My biggest concerns are the sexual sides, I already have a shitty drive being on trt after coming off all the stuff I was on before my liver complications. (Never felt the same since then).
I’m really afraid I won’t be able to ever get an erection again, especially after reading about PSSD (Post Ssri Sexual Dysfunction) which in majority of cases seems to be permanent.

Any experience with antidepressants/SSRIs use please post below, can be about anything related to them. Weight gain, performance in the gym, etc.

Have you gone through therapy with a licensed mental health counselor that specializes in compulsive disorders?

Are you experiencing performance anxiety now? Can you achieve and maintain an erection now?

What is the surgery your having?

As said by @totalrecomp , the problem with using the SSRI's like fluoxetine to treat premature ejaculation is that they have such a negative impact on many men's libido and ability to get an erection. On the other hand, there are men who take the SSRI's and have no problem with them, so it's impossible to predict whether they will work for you or not until you try them.

SSRI's like fluoxetine (Prozac) have been prescribed specifically to treat hypersexuality, and to shut down men's libidos when their fixation on sex becomes a problem for them:

On the other hand, there are reports of SSRI's like fluoxetine and sertraline actually CAUSING hypersexuality in men:

So it seems to be impossible to predict whether an individual will have SSRI induced sexual dysfunction until you try the medication yourself.

All SSRI’s can negatively or positively effect your libido and sex life.

it takes around a week for fluoxetine levels to build up in your body so I have have heavy skepticism that viagra and fluoxetine will have any affect on a one time use. There is no evidence that Fluoxetine works immediately like viagra. I would believe this to be the same with cymbalta
