Pre stage pump up.

I might step on stage in a while and was already visualizing myself pumping up pre stage.

I was wondering if:

-you pump up good or only ‘medium’ so you could see more definition? I assume it differs per muscle as in, you can pump up your chest good without sacrificing lines while maybe not so much with triceps? Mind you I have never been in a truly stage lean shape so I’m just guessing.

-do you ‘pump’ up abs too?

I've found that just a little bicep and tricep pump is really all that's needed , I get alot better pump from just posing that actually "pumping up"

You certainly don't want to pump up legs (you also want stop training them 7-10 days prior to a competition). But, upper body can and should be pumped up before hitting the stage. You just need to time it properly so you don't lose the pump when you're up there. If a certain body part is lagging (upper body), you want to pump that up more than a strong body part for obvious reasons. Don't over do it. If you're fully carbed up, you should be able to get a good pump without putting in too much intensity. Don't forget to add some sort of salt before you get on that stage.

Main focus on chest, shoulders, biceps is what I do, I barely work my triceps and my back

Worry more about getting in shape
pumping up wont matter if youre not peeled

Don't use weights, use only rubber bands. So many guys are overdo it and when time is coming they are so tired, shaking on stage and they can't get pump anymore as they gave all before it even started. Don't to this mistake.

Thanks, I was going to use some light db’s and bands. So basically don’t overdo it with the main concern being tiredness and not losing lines?

I fully agree, but it’s some good to know info I think.

Why aren’t you doing those muscles?

Yeah the legs I knew. What about calfs tho? A few calf raises from the ground to increase some bloodflow and veins?
The timing is vital indeed, some friends went on stage cold lol.

Yeah I’d definitely do the lagging muscles a bit more, thanks!

Some muscle don't lose their separation when pumped but some do, like triceps have always lost separation when I get them pumped. Chest, shoulders, biceps do not and just add to the overall shape when they are pumped.
