Sometimes what you hear & read is a little different from actuality. I have read that taurine is an osmotic agent for muscle cells - bringing fluid into the muscle cells. I know that glycerine is one too - but I did not like the results from my last try with it.
This time around I'll be re-introducing carbs back into my diet 3 days before my contest. Currently on CKD and will do my last re-feed this Friday. Next Thursday I'll add 30-35g low glycemic carbs per meal every 3 hours. That will give me aprox 200g of carbs per day.
I used to do big-time carb &/or shit-loading. Never came in like I needed to. This time trying something more conservative.
it does not work for me [at least for muscle fullness] i tried it at 5gs 4 times a day. 5gs bfore wt 5gs after. on wt days. and nothing, not like creatine.
Do you guys stay on creatine while on CKD? If not, do you start it back up several days out from contest time?
I know in my case I do notice good water retention in my muscle for a short period of time when I use creatine. I have never competed before though and am trying to get ready for a show in 12 weeks!
