What are you thoughts on pre-exhausting the muscles for major movements?

Ive never been a fan of it since I enjoy applying as power as I can toward my major movements. But I workout the other day with member who just recently won his Pro Card and he was explaining to me why he does giant sets, more reps/set but as he workout progress and he moves onward to more compound movements, he like to apply more weight and less reps/sets.

I wanted to see what some of you thoguht about this subject matter.

I remember reading that Dorain Yates used the pullover machine to pre-exhaust his lats for his back workouts. I know this, most injuries occur from a combination of too much weight along with poor form. When I talked to guys that get hurt, they always say it has happened towards the beginning of their workouts, more than the end. It would seem that pre-exhausting would force you to lower the weights and do better form, in theory of course. I think most won't/don't do pre-exhausting because they have to big of ego's. If Dorain says "pre-exhaust your lats" and he has the size and mass that he carried in his back..........I think it's worth a shot.;)
