a 20 year old guy i know weighs 150. maybe 5'7.
he chains a 100 lb plate on his belt and does 8-10 dips per set.
full range. i'm thinking that's pretty strong. just wondering if anyone here can dip with 2/3 their bodyweight attached to em.

pretty impressive for a 20 year old but over the years i've seen a 220 pounder doing sets of 6 with 300lbs hanging from him and a 181 lb powerlifter dipping sets of 10 with bodyweight.( 4=45lb plates hanging)

all of those are pretty impressive....good to know , guess i need to keep working....i weigh 200lbs..3x10 @ 100lbs...

like Tom said.......pretty strong 20yo......

but i regularly dip with 4 and 5, 45lb plates
for reps......

and i know for a fact i'm NOT the only one

+60lbs over my body weight for a while now. Im nothing special.

if that's you in your avatar you're a few notches above special bro. 70 lbs is a damn good weight to dip with. the average joe on the street would be lucky to get 2 reps with no added weight.

I have never been able to do dips. It kills my shoulders. I suk at it.

60lbs over my BW is (5) 45lb plates and (1) 25lber for reps of 5-9. Honestly, if I can do it, anyone can. I really am average with a hard work ethic.

True, but its hard to think of yourself as special with all the freaks on this forum, LOL.

Haha.. Agreed..

I weight 240, and dip with 70lb attached to a belt... Ive gotta say its a pain in the ass having to strap a 45+35...
... Tenny, how in the hell do you add 5 45s?... Did you lengthen the chain, or do you put some on a chain and some in a backpack?

before i got tendonitis in my left elbow (about 2-3 months ago grrr)

i could do 155 added to the belt, for 5 reps

i weighed 225 at the time

itll be good to hit the dips wen my elbow heal

haha

its a bit of a balancing act
to get up there.

i always have extra chain in my bag.
and a friend of mine told me about an old seatbelt.
they work great and you dont have to lug around the extra weight
of the chain.

100lbs strapped to a 150lb body is quite impressive. I'm generally 185-190lbs and strap on 25lbsx16, 50lbsx12, 75lbsx10, 90lbsx8. Then I take off the weight and bang out about 40 more dips and it feels like I'm light as a feather, haha. I usually do this towards the end of my work out so I'm sure I could go a bit higher but nothing crazy.

BTW, when I strap on 90lbs, it feels like my hips are going to be torn off from the bone. How the heck are you guys putting on so much weight? Maybe I need a different or modified belt?

I was getting around 15 reps hanging 3 plates, but it was causing pain in my ac joint that would last for a week. So I went back to db decline press as my primary chest exercise and I don't go over 2 plates on dips anymore.

damn, there's serious strength here. at 180 all i got to was 75 lbs for 10.
quit em when my shoulder started hurtin. which sucks, cuz dips and pullups are my fave things.

the kid also sits on a bench with a 105 lb dumbell, flicks it over his head and bangs out extentions. seriously, just kinda flings it up like nuthin. he does martial arts training and gets banged on to strengthen his body, punches sand, etc. maybe 5% bf.

Back before I seperated my shoulder in a fall, I did dips with 100lb plate, but I was at a body weight of 190. I thought that was good but this guy at 150 is crazy. Fuck, I miss doing weight dips.
