i completely understand what you are saying, but I disagree with the thought process. Building something you're proud of is all that matters
9 judges at the table in front of me, or people around the pool, wont make me feel a certain way about what I look like. the judges determine my placing against competition, and I try to leave it at that
i think most of the benefits you speak of is the confidence and the pride that comes along with living this lifestyle and how you feel about yourself

Well isn't that exactly what the guy is trying to do, building something he wants to be proud of? He wants to be proud of his body at the pool, just because it's not on stage like you doesn't mean it's a bad thought process.
