This is older but just seeing it now, and must say for the most part I agree! I barely train with machines at all anymore as I feel it's just a better way to lift since, that's how your body was designed/intended to move weight. I was a trainer for a long time, and have an Exercise Physiology degree as well.
I don't agree with alot of these if you have proper form and are in the correct position you should have no trouble. Example I don't do these anymore due to pinch nerve in neck but smith machine squats are a really good leg exercise if you place your feet out far enough from you you will have perfect 90 degree form. Also proper foot position on leg press great exercise. 90 degrees is a major rule of thumb with most exercises beyond the 90 degree mark you place too much stress on joints, ligaments, tendons, and muscles ect.
