I have type 2 diabetes. Was diagnosed some 8 years ago.
I now have a sore on the bottom of my foot and been seeing a specialist for over a year. It just isn't healing like it should. I'm off of it as much as I can stand, and even wearing a special bozo shoe. Lol! My blood sugar is really not bad at all.
I feel great, but I've tried not to go to the gym as frequently as I was. Driving me crazy. Any of you guys know anyone in this predicament and what do they do? I really want to put this behind me.

Have you tried topical antibiotics?

You say your blood sugar is "really not bad at all." What is your A1c?

See a foot specialist that deals with diabetics? Not Joe from Pro M.

From a medical standpoint...

How well-controlled is your diabetes? What is your A1C? What is your fasting blood glucose and post-prandial glucose? You say your blood sugar isn't bad at all...well--what is it for all of those? Are you keeping a blood sugar log? If not, I recommend you do one for a week to see what it looks like--fasted in am, before you eat lunch, before you eat dinner, and before bed.

What medications are you on...and are you adherent? If you are and they aren't knocking your A1C down at all, it may be time to transition to a more intensive therapy.

Have you had a diabetic foot test anytime recently? What were the results?

Has anyone ever counseled you on proper diabetic foot care? If not, I highly recommend you seek someone out as it is of the utmost importance. If you're unwilling to do that, please look around online for all the things you SHOULD be doing.

A wound that doesn't heal is symptomatic of diabetes that is getting out of hand. Your target A1C should be either >6.5 or >7.0, depending on any co-conditions you may (or may not) have. I advise you to take this very seriously, as what you're experiencing is a surefire sign that you're on the road to peripheral neuropathy (if you're not already there) and eventually perhaps the loss of your foot.

This here. I lost one of my guys at work to this in the last couple of months. It was an issue with his toe.

By the time he got serious about it...they took his toe to try and take away the infection. That then turned into another toe.

Finally they got aggressive and had to go way above the infection in his foot.

I seen him last Friday when he stopped by the shop to say hello to everyone.....and to show us his new prosthetic....they ended up taking almost to his knee.

Don't play around with this stuff.

You guys are spot on. I do have a foot specialist. My last blood profile had my A1C at 8.5. I have been putting an antibiotic on it. There is no infection at this time. The dressing is changed everyday. I feel like I'm being very diligent. I even wear a bozo type of shoe to get the pressure off the area. I maybe thinking to much about it and just keep doing this routine. I was told to never wear Nikes again. The toe box is too narrow.

What's your current medication regimen? How's your diet and exercise (cardio in addition to weights?)?

8.5 is definitely in the damage zone.

I'm sure you know all this, but this link looks like it summarizes diabetic foot care pretty concisely and precisely. Might be worth a look-over to refamiliarize yourself with the subject--paying careful attention to the "between the toes" notes.

Can't edit so double-posting

Correction to my first post: A1C less than 6.5 or 7.0 depending on co-conditions, NOT greater than

You can try turmeric (curcumin) make a paste and put it on it.
