19 years no booze

Today marks 19 years since my last drink.
Some here know my story, if anyone is interested and not squeamish, this thread has some pics:

Congrats! Something to definitely be proud of. This July will be 33 yrs with no alcohol. I've had a couple close calls, once at a casino and another at a wedding but I stood tall and didn't cave in. There's no turning back for me at this point.

I remember your story very well. I was so drunk on New Year’s Eve 2002, that I walked into the wrong apartment thinking it was mine. A room full of Vietnamese people started screaming at me as I started walking into what I thought was my bedroom. I’m so lucky they didn’t shoot me. It took me quite a few tries to find my actual apartment after I left. They all looked the same. Luckily, the other apartments I tried to go in had their doors locked.

Awesome man. I can't say I've ever had addiction issues. So I "don't know" what its like to deal with something like that. But I have had challenges and weaknesses like everyone. I know its just one day at a time. Keep doing what you do. Its working.

Even a day, hell, even an hour or a minute for that matter can feel like an eternity. It’s simple to quit . . . but it’s not easy. You really find out what kind of person you are.

9 years here. I had one more step on my quest for eternal bliss and I would have had it, or so I thought. And that last, singular step would have given me all the bliss I ever wanted . . . I would have been dead, too effed up to realize I was committing suicide.

Don’t ever let your guard down, I know I can’t. I don’t have the endurance to chance that dragon again . . . and would probably die trying.

And I got off easy.

Dang i never seen those post from 2010 but have read many of yours. This Feb i will have 21 years sober. I never hurt myself or anybody else. I did get a simple assault charge in a fight at a parking lot of a bar. 3 Dwi"s 4 pi"s, possession of a controlled substance, criminal mischief and criminal trespass. But i never got hurt, just trouble with the law.

I’ve had some “not so proud “ moments drunk as well! Sober 23 years now

I am on year 9 or so? Not sure I really dont count.

Clear head, no hangovers. The biggest benefit was my kids stopped seeing dad with a drink in his hand all the time when they were in grades 5 and 7. Kids model behavior....and both my kids dont drink (yes I believe them).
