2023 Masters Olympia Roster Revealed

Out of this list, I would have to guess the top competitors would be
  • Fred Smalls, Joshua Lenartowicz, Maxx Charles
that is assuming Kamal would not be doing the masters?...?
Kamal and max will be front runners in this show. Max from pure size and Kamal will definitely be the most conditioned guy on that stage.
I dont expect much from Josh, if he was looking that good he would have opted to come back to a small OPEN show.

Anton Antipov is phenomenal... thing is, im pretty sure he isn't 40 yet....
Arya Saffaie should win hands down......I know i know..... nobody cares... lol

I know - I was busy with work and got lazy - GPT3.5 was way off haha
Now I'm concerned. Isn't GPT an early AI? AI i suppose to run everything all the time by 2030 and in 2023 it can't math the Olympia.

I didnt know Josh was that old, that said, I feel like Josh was on the express train to maybe being a top 3 contender? Then he sort of fell off the radar. I actually forgot about him until I saw this post, and was like "oh yeah that guy was the shit a few years back"

agree with AA being insane, looks like he turns 40 in two weeks

Perfect timing for him... He looks phenomenal ..I always wanted to be on stage with him but it just never worked out. He'd a smoked me for sure... He'll be Top 3.

Josh Lenartowicz will go down as one of the great 'what could've been' stories in bodybuilding.

In 2015 he won San Marino and Ferrigno Legacy. In 2016 he was 3rd at the Arnold USA and 4th at the Arnold Australia. He made his Olympia debut in 2016 and placed 9th, at that time the highest ever placing for a rookie at the Olympia. In 2017 he won the Tampa Pro.

Later in 2017 he was preparing for the Olympia and living in Florida with Dallas McCarver. He was the person who found McCarver dead and made the 911 call. McCarver passed a few weeks before the Olympia and Lenartowicz again took 9th that year.

The loss of McCarver was the start of a downward spiral for Lenartowicz. Shortly after his brother-in-law died then he had his own tumor issues which I don't believe he ever fully recovered from, in the sense that after all the medical procedures he still had head pain, it was impacting his training, etc.

Lenartowicz was 34 in 2017, right in his prime years as a bodybuilder. It's truly a shame we never got to see how great he could've been.

thanks for the info man, I truly appreciate it

I feel like there are def a few that stand out as guys that "could have been great" that for a reason or another (health, personal etc) couldn't turn into their true full potential, or at least take their career to the heights it was possibly capable of.

I think of Mike Francois, Justin Compton, Seth Feroce, Jason Huh. I always thought Lionel Beyeyke had some genetic gifts that if pushed could have been great. Maybe Zach Khan?

Mike was but still is a beast. He is also a great guy. He is still involved in BB. He is still local to Columbus. He trains clients, and has a local NPC show that brandishes his name. I have spoken with him extensively. He is a really interesting, genuine, and authentic guy. He still looks incredible all these years later.

Are u in the Columbus area? My sister in law and nieces live there. I was born and raised 2 hours south of Columbus (southern tip of Ohio)

Yes sir! I actually spent from around 2004 to 2015 training at the worlds Mike is at (not metrofitness) in columbus. It's funny you mention how he looks because even with the health issues, little food, and often spotty training the dude walks around with striations all over him lol. His calves man...crazy.

I only go over there once in a blue moon now it's been quite a while since I've exited the hardcore scene and live on the other side of town. Brian Yersky used to train there as well. Lower level, now retired pro but we had a hell of a crew at that gym.

I am no longer in Cbus. I lived there 2010 through 2013. I trained at Metro Worthington. Mike trained many clients there multiple days a week. I am born and raised in Dayton, so living there was special. It is in a way the "epicenter" of bodybuilding.

Chatted with Mike pretty much weekly there. John Meadows (may he RIP) also would frequent the gym and he was also amazing. The cool part is I was / and am lifetime natty so I always felt a bit awkward talking with them because I was not in "their world". but they did not care or talk to me differently about diet. training etc... because of that fact.

It is ironic that you say that about his calves, it is / was what everyone would always notice... how are they so big and shredded lol.

Also, year I remember Brian, and also Seth Shaw Big Slank. I hate that he has stepped back from BB from a fan perspective because I love his physique, but also I completely love and respect that he did at the same time since it was taking a health toll for him.

There were also some other guys that trained there...Travis Branstetter and a guy named Mark (cannot remember the last name) that had an insane physique

Yeah I had no idea he was over 40! I thought he was coming back for the normal Olympia lol

40yrs-old is a joke. Masters? C'mon...

I am nearly 40... masters... fuck :D

As you already know it's because if they do over 50 it's gonna be a crap show (compared to 40+). There are some great bodybuilders that age but the biggest names probably won't want to get back on and diet down especially when the prize money is so low. Over 40's and you basically have a massive pool of bodybuilders who will do the show. It's all about money and getting people to watch so I understand why but masters to me is at the very least 50+

A few hours drive from me. I will be there and through Emeric hooking up with Vince Galanti. I can tell you he is in shape too. Should be interesting.

He had brain surgery. Both him and his brother have some type of brain disorder which required surgery but I believe the surgery was a success and he is able to train hard again. I think he brings a good package and could surprise people. He has a great personality and I wish him success.
