....i have been training consistantly in a 5 day a week split for around 6 to 8 months..... before was a quick run at DC but was very short lived because of lack of training partners wanting to do it or lack of partners at all.... i started my first cycle 3 weeks ago.. work in a very labor intensive job for 8 hours a day and hit the gym for about 45 mins to 1 hour a night plus 30 mins of cardio..... i might be overtraining... stregth is going up in the gym but i think that is because of the cycle.... would it hurt me to go to a MON- WENDS- FRi split and do cardio 5 days a week starting now or should i just keep doing what im doing?
 
When bulking up, I run 4 days a week. Try cutting 1 day and see if you grow more. Then you will know if you are overtraining. I don't have a physical job either.
 
i work construction, i do no cardio, i consider 8 hours of work plus an hour of weights enuff.that said, i went from a m/t/th/fri to m/w/f and im seeing a difference

i think i am atleast going to cut one day out of the equation i think my energy level should be higher.... anyone have a good 4 day a week split?
 
4 day split im doing right now, its enough rest in the right places but not so much tht you feel like your slackin

mon-chest mon-back,shoulders,tris
tues-off tues-off
weds-back weds-chest,bis,traps
thurs-off thurs-off
fri-hams,tris,shoulders fri-quads, back
sat-quads,bis,traps sat-hams,chest
sun-off sun-off

single bodypart workouts get 3-4 exercises, multiple bodypart days get 6
rep scheme 15,12,10(failure)
 
I used to strength train 5 days a week also. When I had my son, I had to change some things around a bit. I did DC for a year, then changed to 5/3/1. Both are 3 day/week routines, and I have been consistently getting stronger since changing. I think it has to do with more days of rest, but also since I'm in there only 3 days, I bust my ass harder than ever.
 
I used to think that people who said "change up your training every couple of months to confuse your muscles" were stupid

now i know i'm the stupid one for not listening to them...

try something new... you won't regret it. 3 days per week sounds great. and try some different styles of training too.
 
It's a very individual thing, but for me, never training two days in a row is the best training decision I ever made. Having 48 hours between workouts is great both physically and mentally. That usually means training 3 days a week. But if I get really antsy I just stop thinking in 7 day weeks and lift every other day. But even then, I find myself back to 3 days a week pretty quickly.
