30 years of gear use-I'm starting to regret

I would recommend taking everything Mike Arnold suggested (I take all those as well) and check out this thread. It's mostly for heart health but all the recommendations in here are helpful for general health as well.

I agree with this. I had a heart attack in October and was able to fix up my heart. Buy these, look into the himalya products for heart like guggul and Arjuna. Big time helped!

I'm really sorry for all you go through I can understand how u feel. I went through all this from 21-26. And that I still can't move my shoulder might go for surgery number 4 soon.
Best of luck and get better. Focus on ur health. I now started taking care of everything. Do it for ur wife

I know guys who went crazy with the gear and started having problems way younger than you did. I am glad that you are finally addressing your health problems. We only get one crack at this so I am glad to see you are taking care of yourself.

I went to the renal doctor today and took my past 4 years of blood work with me, my egfr went up from 50 (in 2013) to 60 today which is borderline. Protein got worse from 2+ to 3+, his preliminary conclusion is he thinks it is FSGS, which you probably have seen the study on the 10 bodybuilders being diagnosis with this issue. He is sending me for additional blood work and and ultrasound, then a possible biopsy on my kidney. I have a followup visit in 5 weeks. I go to a heart specialist on Tuesday to check my heart valve leak issue and my high cholesterol(320), high triglycerides(315), HDL (25), LDL (232)

ive posted many times before that certain steroids can cause direct glomeruloscleorsis and ive seen it biopsy proven in guys on the boards even in their 30's. Too many people are not aware and think its only BP related issues.

when you talk to the cardiologist on tuesday push for a cardiac CTA. They can even do it retrospective and look at heart valve motion while looking at the coronaries.

if you are going to a structural cardiologist for the valve issue they might get an MRI but since i know your in the NY area id recommend Kliger out of lenox hill.

ya gotta get those lipids in check and look for damage my friend...

As in the myth of Narcissus, the beautiful youth who falls in love with his own reflection,
the relationship between the bodybuilder and the mirror image is an intimacy of
extraordinary power and potentially perilous consequence. Most bodybuilders ultimately
seem to drown themselves in their own images, pushed by forces unseen. The dimensions
of the tragedy are revealed only when lives and personalities are destroyed. Until then
the damage remains invisible. I suspect that every bodybuilder (person?) experiences the
mirror in a uniquely personal way, although many are perhaps oblivious to the power it
exerts over their lives and few have managed to reverse the hold of the mirror.

upeccmi . . . you have been through a shit storm of ‘problems’ and I cannot begin to tell you
how much I wish them to be sorted out for you. I am hopeful that you are pointed in the
right direction and that your worst fears are unfounded, behind you and / or are quickly
resolved. If any good is to be gained from this is that we are all in this together and that
we all will hopefully learn from our mistakes and the mistakes of others (unfortunately at
their expense).

With the bodybuilders perception of doctors and their lack of understanding of any and
perhaps all PED’s, their myraid interrelationships, etc. . . . it is understandable that many
bodybuilders mistrust doctors. But to be fair, most doctors mistrust bodybuilders as they
really have zero idea of what they are doing to their body (nobody really does) and they
typically do not understand the cause and effects relationships, the constant changing
of UG PED’s and their questionable at best, composition, and harmful at worst, if left
unsupervised. Simply put, it cuts both ways. And if I was truly sick, I would be looking
first for advice from the medical community as they did not get you in the mess you are
in today.

You can talk shit about doctors all day long so I will end by saying (again) . . . a doctor is
like a pistol. You don’t need one very often but when you do you need one very badly and
very quickly, and nothing else will do.

Be well and stay well,

alfresco

Question

Would it be beneficial to use those supplement's year round even if your not on aas? I take a statin and I hate it. My joints hurt its ridiculous. I had high cholesterol and triglycerides but I changed my diet drastically and the numbers dropped big time. Doctors make you feel like your going tondie if you don't take the meds. I would really like to not take them.

I use small amounts of gear one to two cycles and a low dose of trt but always health conscious. I am 46 and I hate seeing these guys killing themselves just be massive. I hope the op gets all the help he needs and to think of his family first.

Do you have a theory about what roids that does this?

Went to the heart specialist today, she said my out of wack numbers are hereditary and not due to steroid use. She said numbers this high could only be from that, as I exercise daily and eat healthy. She is calling in a script for 10 mg of Crestor and said I most likely will need the highest dose of 40 mgs. I am scheduled for a stress test in a few weeks. I can't believe I need that much and concerned of the sides on this as I hear it really fucks people up. Plus I already have issues with my kidneys and liver is high, I am sure it can only get worse. I know this is dumb to say, but I don't see me ever doing another cycle again and it really sucks. I am going for a CAT scan and XRays tomorrow to try to get my back (double, maybe triple fusion surgery) scheduled as well as an ultrasound for my kidneys on Friday. I can't believe my body is this messed up.

Don't take the crestor. Just say no to statins.

Also, why don't you post your bloodwork? We can help you there.

I agree with nothuman. If you can avoid crestor you will be better off. Of course, in the end you have to decide, but there are other natural options that have been posted on the board to help with cholesterol levels. Citrus bergamot is great, but there are more things you can do. Also eat more healthy fats etc...I would look into everything so that you can make a wise decision whatever that may be.

By the way, what did they say about the valve?

Stay strong.

Thankful for your story.

I just wanted to say thanks for you story, I wish you the very best and I will remember what you have said as I move forward in the body building lifestyle! Eironman1521

I actually just picked up the items that Mike Arnold mentions earlier in this post and just started using them. I am also going for new bloodwork next Tuesday for my Kidney doctor and added a Lipid Cascade myself to the script to see if there were any changes.
My bloodwork on 1/20, the bad numbers were:
Glucose, Serum= 119
Bun= 28
Creatinine, Serum= 1.38
Alkaline Phosphate S= 37
AST= 69
ALT= 78
Protein= 3+
Occult Blood= Trace
Cholesterol total= 320
Triglycerides=315
HDL= 25
VLDL Cholesterol= 63
LDL Cholesterol= 232
Microalbumin Urine= 1023.4
Microalbumine/Creatine ratio= 1284.1

Like I said, the heart specialist said the high cholesterol is genetic (Familial Hypercholesterolemia), said I may need to go up to the highest dose of crestor (40 mgs) but will start me out at 10 mgs for now. They will discuss my heart valve when they do the stress test on March 3rd. I see alot of comments wanting to stay away from statins, is there reason? I know the sides can be bad (so I read).

I would love to know how they came to that conclusion. In my very humble opinion some physicians just say that to try to take the blame off the patient. Unless actually genetic tests are done Id accept personal responsibilty for lipid issues secondary to diet, cardio and AAS.

Once all those have been spot on for a long time and THEN if lipids come back abnormal then id give more thought to the genetic route. You also have to keep in mind almost no physicians i know have any real experience with treating steroids users.

i am not against statins for certain people in which it is indicated.

Try a low carb diet with no sugars. Better yet, keto if you can handle it. Also, I'd get your hands on some metformin
