Man i cannot put my house on the market fast enough. New york had a killer snow storm last week. the snow started on Thursday and stopped on Saturday. My power went out Thursday at 7pm and didnt come back until Monday morning around 10 am. I was living by candle light for 3 days. Makes a person grateful for everything that is usually taken for granted.

Yeah, you guys really took a beating this year. Detroit barely had any, even though we had our 6th snowiest() Feb. in history this year. But hey, you never know we may not be done yet since all our record snow falls have been in March and April. I'm thinking you guys should be granted a reprieve already.

i believe we broke records here in the tri-state area.. I dont remember much more snow in NJ then we had this year..Its great for guys who make some extra $$ plowing. My neighbor is a contractor and has a nice 4x4. His buddy owns a landscape company and he plows for them with his truck.. $65 an hour!!

Im guessing he has to be by water. Im in upstate & we didnt get nearly that much. Now lake effect snow is different all together... The western part always gets it worse than my area.

this has happened to us before. we lost power for three days in the summer 6 years ago.

i'd sit out on the deck as the sun would set and just listen to the dogs barking, kids playing and the crickets, well, cricketing.

the whole city was hushed. no hum of powerlines- you'd be amazed how noisy our environments really are.

truthfully, it was one of the best moments of that summer.

What did you do for heat during that time? Did you buy an oil heater? I would worry about the pipes freezing too, how to avoid that?

We have one of those ventless fireplaces that is fueld with methane from the main house line. Im not sure if i could get the methane to flow through the valve though, since its one of those that you turn on with a remote control. I hope I dont have to find out.

This snow is a pain in the ass. I had about 3ft at my home in PA. Oh well it may be the last for me. We are moving to Charlotte, NC this summer.
