Since it is a liquid at room temp I think the thing you would have to worry about would be it separating from the oil and forming a layer of its own and then when you draw from the vial you wouldn't be guaranteed even distribution of the drug.
True about the smell, cant miss it. Most raws have a distinct smell you get to know. Appearance of powders somewhat too is a way to help identify. I remember how test cyp has a waxy look to it.
