Here's Siders benching. Check out the bounce (not everyone calls that a bounce though)

I'm very aware that that is not a regulation bench, but it seems most train with a little bounce or letting the weight sink in the chest (when benching raw in training). I think Siders has the highest ever IPF bench as well but his form nothing like a legal bench in that video I posted.Kaiser said:Sorry man, thats just not a regulation bench. I realize it is alot of weight and he does reps, but when you use your chest as a springboard to give you momentum, then that just isn't a valid press, let alone being a risk. Check the one in the link Byrd just put up. The one where he does 625 for 1, not 3. That was an awesome press. That's a real bench. Drop, pause, press. It's the only true way to guage strength one on one.

From briansiders.comKaiser said:What weight class? I thought Scot Mendelson owned the highest with close to or over 1000lbs, but I might be mistaken.
I don't know if it has been upped since 2004 but I recently read he held the record in SHW. Could be wrong.11.16.04: This last week Brian won the IPF's 35th Open Men's World Championships in Cape Town, South Africa as a SHW. He squatted an amazing 437.5kg (963ish), benched a world record 337.5kg(744), and pulled 372.5kg (821ish) to set a world record 1147.5 (2529) total.
I don't know how much you follow powerlifting but I was talking about the IPF record. It cannot be compared to what someone like Rychlak does. See his shirt in the video you posted, see how he wears it. It's a whole different ballgame. I have seen some high level powerlifters say Rychlak gets over 400lbs. out of his shirt. Even if it's an exaggeration, what Mendelson and Rychlak do with these multi-layer open back shirts, worn low on the chest, cannot be compared to IPF standards or RAW meets. IPF lifters also cannot lower it to the stomach like Rychlak et al do, it has to hit the upper sternum. They also drug test, and although the guys get around it I'm sure it limits what you can do drug wise.Kaiser said:Unless he is in a low weight class, 744 is definately not the top. I think Ted Arcidi did that all the way back in 1985. I know personal friends that have come close to that number. It's not really that high anymore, although I find it to be amazing.
Here's one of Gene Rychlak in 2003 pushing clean with no bounce or indent in chest 900lbs. He's over that now and pushing 1000 or just a little under. Rumor has it that he is over 1000 and pushing trying like hell for 1100. Mendelson is also shooting for that number, but I cant find video on him.

I think Rychlak has benched 1005. He missed 1015 at the Olympia.Kaiser said:Here's one of Gene Rychlak in 2003 pushing clean with no bounce or indent in chest 900lbs.
