He walked away from heavy lifts rather than being forced out, I bet if he had to he could still pack on the plates.

Dude is still strong as hell. He truly puts in the work if you ever watch his training videos. Trains a lot with powerlifters, still, too.

What I still wanna know is how the hell he maintains on how (comparatively) little he eats! And John definitely doesn't strike me as a guy running reckless amounts.

Myofibrils are more resilient to atrophy than sarcoplasm.

As he was training at Westside back in the 90's if I remember right he would have to be pretty strong. But I see he always carries his head toone side so I guess there is some damage there at least.

heavy squats put a lot of stress on the spine. You only get about 50 % of the weight on the quads, so as a quad exercise, there are better with a much safer risk to your back, spine.

I dont wanna get into the squat or not debate but fuck that.

I dont care what your science says... you squat (heavy), you grow. That's held up pretty well over the years for me.

That's impressive, especially considering he probably didn't weigh very much either. When I graduated I was about 185 lbs and could squat 315 lbs for about 3 reps.lol
