AAS effects on blood pressure, Too high?

I've never heard of Lisinopril but I'll check it out.

I useit at 5 mg/d. Does a really good job and no sides that I can sense. I use it as the longer cycle gprogresses. For the fist few month I can manage BP by donating blood. After that I have been adding Lisinopril. Work really well and I feel better. Be careful though with BP meds. You don't want to drive it too low.

With a touch of atomic 29 and 30 :)

In the event some may not of picked up what I was advocating.

If you're taking an ACEi, considering taking in a little extra zinc, as well a small dose of copper. ACEi tend to deplete zinc. Not so much copper. Although there's a chance of lowering copper with too much zinc.

BP meds do not 'mask' the high BP, they fix it :banghead:

Obviously an obese sedentary smoker with high BP should also change their lifestyle. But that doesn't mean that in the meantime their high blood pressure should go untreated.

In addition, high blood pressure due to PED abuse often cannot be fixed just with cardio and a healthy diet. Not to mention that BP meds have other health benefits during AAS use independent of their BP lowering effect.

Blood pressure is a pretty good indicator of cardio respiratory function, efficiency. You take lisinopril and dilate your blood vessels, did you actually increase your cardio capacity? Not at all, but yes your BP #`s are lower. You take another pill to make you piss out water, reduce blood volume and have you constantly dehydrated, is your vascular system any healthier? This is what I mean by "masking" the symptoms. Is the plaque build up in your arteries gone? Not at all.

Do anti-hypertensive drugs reduce risk of heart attack, stroke, or death? NOT AT ALL!!! Anti-Hypertensives to Prevent Death, Heart Attacks, and Strokes ? TheNNTTheNNT In fact they harm more people than they help. If people wanna just check a box and say "yup BP is in range or closer to range" then go ahead and take them.... But your not helping your health because the underlying issues are still present.

For most the underlying issue is the roids so stop the roids and issue gone. But this is a steroid forum and that's why we are all here so that's not going to happen. While using steroids is good to use bp meds to keep BP in check and when you come off BP will usually get back into good range.

Blood pressure is an independent risk factor for all-cause mortality. Of course it will not fix atherosclerosis and low cardiovascular fitness. But the fact that these factors tend to be correlated does not imply that addressing any one of them is not beneficial. Doing cardio and eating healthy are therefore 2 additional but independent recommendations for bodybuilders. Often times cardio does not fix AAS-induced blood pressure issues, but I do agree that every bodybuilder should be doing cardio (on and off season), and for some that may remedy the BP issues.

And of course BP meds lower mortality, there is a shit ton of evidence for that (Both empirical and theoretical). In vulnerable populations (people with preexisting cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, AAS abusers), the benefits of treating even slightly elevated BP are further increased.

Blood pressure lowering significantly reduces vascular risk across various baseline blood pressure levels and comorbidities. Our results provide strong support for lowering blood pressure to systolic blood pressures less than 130 mm Hg and providing blood pressure lowering treatment to individuals with a history of cardiovascular disease, coronary heart disease, stroke, diabetes, heart failure, and chronic kidney disease.

Primary preventive BP lowering is associated with reduced risk for death and CVD if baseline SBP is 140 mm Hg or higher. At lower BP levels, treatment is not associated with any benefit in primary prevention but might offer additional protection in patients with CHD.
