Abcess I got one damnit....

Yup, got one in the glute left side. It was the size of about a jumbo marble. Drained it with a 20g 1.5in. Drained about 6-7ml of blood/puss. No redness and im afebrile( no fever). Im now taking keflex 1gram twice a day and hopefully will heal up. I cant go to the ER do to knowing these people and what not. If it gets worse Ill go to an ER in a town where no one knows me. Well hope all goes well.

About 1 1/2 months ago I had an abcess in my right shoulder. It was the size of half a tennis ball. I went to my doctor and he had drained almost 30cc's of blood and puss. Then I was put on some antibiotics....It was the first time I've ever had an abcess....hope I never have one again

No certain type....

You see I overused the site. I was doing every day injections. The site was sore. I was a stupid bastard and I was leary of an infection but said to hell with it. You see Im in the medical field but yet I cant seem to follow the rules of medicine other than in my own job. I think that it will be ok. If not Ill be going to the next town over. Im like one giant experiment.

Those can be nasty.

I have a friend who had a severe one. He had to go in to the hospital to get it worked on. He was reusing the same syringe but claimed he was running very hot tap water through it! None of us knew he was doing that. Apparantly he didn't want to go through the hassle of buying new syringes! Go figure.
