Abscessed bug bite rant!!

I am so sick of military doctors! I was bit on the neck by something about 12 days ago. The bite wasn't healing, in fact it began to get very sore and a lump was forming under the skin (on my neck right above my adams apple). I made a doctors appt (on base) and was told its nothing to worry about and prescribed cortizone cream and ibuprofen. I argued a bit cause I felt it was getting infected, but she assured me its fine. Well, it continued to grow and was feeling quite painful, so I sterylized the area and lanced it with a 23g needle. BAM!! Puss galore with a little bit of blood. I went back in and insisted on seeing a different doctor, so they made me and appointment for like 3 weeks away!!! WTF?!?
I'm thinking of just going to the emergency room if it gets worse. It does feel quite a bit better since I poked it, but I know infections are nothing to mess with.
Sometimes I swear I should stick with doctor GOOGLE. It seems to be more informative.

you need to get to an er and get on an antibiotic. 3 weeks is too long and although you self-lanced the bite you're not treating the infection. your military doctors should not be treating humans. they are incompetent.

my lil brother had the same problem...got bit by a spider on his arm down in georga on base...swelled up like a motha. went to the dotors, told him to go home. went back 2 days later bc he couldnt move his arm, they drained it. gave him a shit load of meds and some other stuff. kid couldnt even hold his gun. best of luck

I just called the base and told them I was gonna head to a civillian ER. They hate that so they scheduled me for 9am this morning! What a relief. I'm allergic to all kinds of insects so it gets to be a pain in the ass. Bits either swell up and cause lots of pain, or become infected. Even misquito bits! I bathe in DEET during the summers lol!
