I am curious if anyone has experience with taking accutane and melanotan 1 or 2 at the same time. I used accutane at around 20mg/day during my PCT to prevent acne breakouts. It worked very well with only a minor increase in acne, nothing even close to as bad as it has been in my past PCT's. With summer approaching I stopped taking the accutane and started on melanotan 1 (worried about sides from MT2). A few weeks in I noticed that my skin tone was changing and looking good. However a few days ago I woke up and my face did not look so good. I can see acne starting to form and blemishes forming under my skin. My face looked very dirty and it seemed to be a combo of increased pigmentation from melanotan, redness, and blemishes. Also, my skin was much oilier then before. I have read that melanotan can increase oil production so I am thinking that it was the combo of stopping accutane, and starting melanotan that contributed to the breakout.
I have stopped the melanotan, and started accutane at around 5mg a day and I am washing with 10% benzoyl peroxide as well as using topicals. I am trying a low dose to try to avoid the major sun sensitivity and joint pain that I get on larger doses. Considering I live in a college town in Texas where the river is a major spot for socializing, it's going to be hard to avoid the sun all together.
I am currently thinking of starting the melanotan again in conjunction with the accutane to avoid the redness I get on accutane alone. Of course, I will be wearing sun screen when out in the sun, but my thinking is that the melanotan will aid in protection from the sun and help me avoid red pigmentation. Anyone done this before? Thoughts?
