Accutane and Surgery

I finally got some accutane but have a question before i start it.

I am going to start with a low dose of 20mg a day and see how that works. But, I have to get surgery on my knee in a month. The acne on my back and shoulder is starting to heal and go away, so I was going to start it now or wait until after my surgery.

What do you think I should do?

I don't understand what the surgery has to do with anything. You think you won't be able to take the accutane because of it interacting with medicine they might give you?

I was reading all of the precautions and negative effects of it and wasn't sure. I was just curious and wanted to make sure it would be fine.

really depends on accutane dose. would also get blood and liver values. make sure that any meds used prior/during/after do not interact or are not impacted by isotretinoin

What about calling your surgeon and asking him, too easy?

Accutane is known to interfere with the natural healing process and results in increased scarring from surgery is what my doc said. Some docs recommend 6 months off accutane, others up to a year.
