For those that takes accutane to clear up the little bit of acne you have and to prevent it from getting more on cycle,

is it true when you start taking it at first you break out bad?? was thiking about taking 20mg a day thanks for the help fella's.. Also I don't have it bad but nothing else is working

I took 40 mgs for a month and I had BAD cystic acne. After one cycle of it my acne has never returned, it worked wonders for me! But to answer the question, No it didnt make it worse when I started.
I was also under Doctors supervision so everything was done right (blood work).

i used to get acne in my late teens, ry-roid n cold fusion told me to take high amts of b5- pantothenic acid, it worked for me.
just an alternative to accutane
frk

If you don't have it bad, then just tough it out if you can. I take accutane at 10mg eod. If you must take it, find the lowest dose you an get by with and take plenty of liver protection. I never broke out bad when I started. Just an occasional bump or two on the back. I strongly recommend you keep trying other products unless your acne breaks out really bad.

I tried all sorts of stuff but accutaine cleared up my acne for good. I used 40mg ED for 2 months.. It never came back. I just wish I used it sooner. Also my acne didn't get worse before it got better.

Just be careful. Accutaine is not to be taken lightly. My fiance is an RN at a dermatologist's office (free laser hair removal, baby!!) and she said that the dermatologists she works for makes the patients sign waivers stating that they have been informed about all of the dangers associated with accutaine.

Speaking of the laser hair removal...the laser they have there is incredible. It will remove acne scars, even out skin tone, remove freckles, tighten loose skin, and remove subcutaneous fat, only to name a few things it does.

Ya bro all DRs make you sign a waiver, its called ipledge or something. Its bc of the risk of birth defects associated with accutane and of course all the other side effects.

i had an initial breakout that was worse than everfor the first two months. u have to tough it out and finish the cycle. you wont regret it.

i have acne really bad on my soulders and top of my back... really bad... gets pretty embarrassing.. ive tried taking showers twice a day... using retin-a .... using a back scrubber... so next week i;ma try and go to the dermatologist and see if they can give me this... ive never taken a cycle.. but i have ordered some stuff and plan on starting one soon... should i wait till i;m off of acutane before i start? ppl are saying tough through it and you will be glad you did.. what is so bad about it?

i have a dermatologist appt in the first week of march. was going to make a thread about this right before i went lol. cant wait to try it. good info in here... oh yeah, how much cheaper is generic accutane than regular accutane would u guys say? is it like half the price? less maybe?

its not expensive at all. i use researchstop. im on the 18th day and my skin is already noticably better. less oily(almost none) and after a few days of breakouts, it has subsided. my pores are also smaller.

some guys on this thread are saying they only did it 1 or 2 months?

Weird, I hear that it has to be 4-6 months.

BY THE WAY i am only using 20mg ED which is supposedly very effective with drastically reduced sides. so far, so good.

I used it @ 20-40mg for 2 months. It did alleviate the acne but I've had breakouts since then, so I would presume going to term(4 months) would be optimal to prevent future occurrences.

My experience

I'm 46. Acne my whole life. My brother was on it in the early 80s. I'm just finishing up 5 months of 80mg a day. (40mg am, 40mg pm) I'm not clear, but dramatically improved. My only side is chapped lips. I went through a Dermatologist. It can be hard on the liver, so I would not take any gear that is liver toxic. It can also be rough on lipids. Part of the IPledge program is monthly blood work prior to refills.

Wow everybody thank you for the reply's I hope im aloud to ask this but getting some from a vendor is it better to get pills or liquid and are you aloud to tan while on it?? again I appreciate all the reply's thanks everyone

ouch! i know i couldnt tan. imagine being ass white and then layin on a raft all day and thats what would have happened to me if i tanned. your skin will dry up and be really sensitive to everything, not just sun.

as far as pills go, i never took em.

The reason for the waivers is because it causes horrible birth defects if a woman is pregnant. As a result, the government freaked out and required a registry for prescribing accutane and all of the waivers needed.

I started at 80mgs a day and then it was backed down to 40mgs after five weeks. It does work for sure. The only thing that I still fight with today is very dry skin. My skin got super dry while on it and it never fully recovered. It's only on my face in a couple of areas and those areas were the ones that I would get bad breakouts. This was years ago when I was scripted the medication so that just lets you know how hardcore this stuff can be. I didn't get tired or have the bad muscle aches that some complain of. You have to know ahead of time that this stuff can cause problems if you don't watch it. You will burn instantly in the sun and your nose, eyes, and lips get very dry. I got nose bleeds from time to time too but thats because the lining of your nose resembles sand paper at times.

I tried everything else and this was my last resort. I suggest talking to your physician prior to starting anything like this.

low dose is generally the way to go, except in very severe cases. Even then longer term low dose use is likely still just as effective and still less toxic. Low dose use is not all well explored in the severe case category, but principle is the same and the limited data does support the extended low dose protocol.

Low dose benifits

Delurking to share my personal experience. I have had acne for years, well into my 30's. Not AAS related, I just got the shit-end of the genetic stick in this regard. About 4 years ago after researching "microdose" isotretinoin I did: 1 month @20mg/day tapering down to month 2 @10mg/day to month 3 @ 10mg 3x/week to a maintenance dose of 1 to 2 drops of research iso dosed 40mg/ml (approx 1.3mg/drop) eod. This regimen with a little 2.5% bp cream @night has kept me almost totally clear for years. With as little as around 6mg per week! So yes, a little can go a long way with iso. My yearly labs have been fine too; liver enzymes fine etc.. Take care fellas.
